GC2:DL empy map bug

So I bought this game for ten bucks at target a couple years back and had quite a bit of fun with it. After looking through an old stack of games I re-found this game and decided to give it a whirl, I installed it and updated it through impulse; I then went on to set up a game. Sadly I found that upon spawning in game, I was alone, despite the fact that I added 5 other races into the game. I tried messing around with some settings but to no avail. That was 5 months ago; after reinstalling I am now trying again but to the same result; I looked around on this site for anything that could help me but I so far have not found anything.

So I ask you, do you know what my issue is? because I sure don't.

 

(also, if it's of any significance, the OS that this game worked on was vista; my current os is win7)

How much exploring did you do before determining that there were no other players in the game? Depending on galaxy settings, it's sometimes possible to get a pretty isolated start.

The galaxy list that has all of the names of the races in the game was empty; on my previous install I remember the list being populated at the beginning of the game. But just incase the list was the thing that was glitched I'll look around some more^^

 

Update: Well I looked around and there were people there, guess the list was only populated at the beginning of the game in the old patch -_-
