It's only a proof of concept (mainly focusing on the tracking system), but a successful test nonetheless!
Deployment of ship mounted lasers is one step closer...
Navy aims a laser for a really long time at an outboard motor and finally sets it on fire
Sweet, now that's a good use for the old Spruance class destroyers is there was one (destroyer class lol). Now its only a matter of time until the navy gets one of these to play with.
Haha--but you just can't beat tradition...
Wasn't there also some railgun testing last year too?
Yes there was!
'Regular' Guns are now so 20th century...
That being said, Iowa Class battleships are still pretty cool. They need Nuke powerplants though...
The railgun is a fine deal. Makes a huge racket and belches plasma and flame. Fire me a salvo of those matey!
Particle beams are superior to laser weapons
Pretty much sums it up for me.
