morning boot time

morning boot time

In the morning I turn on my computer, turn on the coffee pot, feed the cat, etc.

by the time the coffee is made my pc is still booting up. sometimes it takes as long as 20 minutes to boot, seems excessive.

anyone else having this time delay.

rebooting during the day takes less time, usually under 5 minutes.

Yes....the days of 256k of memory are gone.....get over it. You have 12 GB!!

sure, why not, I'll give it a go.

is on prompt and I'm not one to add superfluous programs but I am installing most of my old programs. I'll look into that program mentioned to bypass re-installation of programs.

Gary...the toilet or tissue paper works quite well...provided there's sufficient airflow [good fans]...and like any filter system on anything...it's replaced frequently...;)

Would that be before or after it's intended use?????

yrag likes stockings better....as I wager does Jafo.

single or double ply , jafo?

yrag, are garters needed? i don't see anywhere in my lian-li to attach garters.

maybe i'll just stick with the filters that came with the case.

not a lot, some on the bottom of the case and on the V8 radiators. I clean the outside vents/grills about once a month and the insides about every 6 months.

That's fine....

If you want to (and you don't need to) cover the fan grills, swallow your male macho instincts, go to a department store ladies department and buy a pair of hosiery....

And, if you don't have any to spare, I have a recipe.......

Brown it on both sides and throw it in the pot.    8O

Ok my 5 cents worth, link below is "process quicklinks 2 from" uniblue (microsoft certified partner)use it to learn what running processes you have more importantly to shut the crap down it also doubles as a security feature if your not sure what a certain process is,tho would be best to set to not run at start up,your process list you posted earlier showed a stack of unnecessary running processes, which in all likely hood some are back after the reinstall, things like

itunes helper

jusched.exe = java update schedule

ipod

search indexer = ..lol..

flashutil = wtf not sure why anyone would need a flash player helper..lol..

man ! there's so much in that list of yours it's a wonder windows bothered to start at all :p

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/ProcessQuickLink.shtml

Lastly replace any software like adobe reader with sumatra pdf reader basically find free lite foot print software, most IMPORTANTLY get a a dam IMAGING program, macrium is free however i'd Advise Acronis True image 11 at this time since ghost 15 lacks a couple of parts those being try & decide mode & continuous backup

Yeah that was my point..... I think V would love the speed jump you get from a SSD..... :D

Give it awhile first and wait for the prices to drop. Right now they're too expensive. 'Cause believe me if I could afford one I'd have it by now as I'm sure others would too.

His computer's probably always on, so I don't think there'd be much of a diff....
