My Galactic civlizations Deluxe edition keeps crashing.

I have Galciv2 deluxe edition and when I am playing it on my laptop for some reason I keep clicking around on the map and it will crash on me for some reason. I don't know why it does that. Does it need the disk in it becaues that happens to me when I don't have the disk in the machine.

First, did you install Impulse, and update your game? If no, that is probably the problem. What's more, there were many more gameplay enhancements (positive) that were made since the original popular version. If you still have this problem, I would suspect a sound driver or graphics issue. Also, sometimes reinstalling the game fixes bad install issues (uninstall first).

Personally I highly recommend you upgrade to Twilight of Arnor. It may fix your problem. Even better, upgrade to Dark Avatar first, I thoroughly enjoyed both the campaign and the free-style games (metaverse or not) of all three iterations; but now I would never go back to DL or DA (the TA is deeper in strategy and has more stuff). So enjoy DL thoroughly before you enjoy DA thoroughly before you enjoy TA thoroughly! Each upgrade changes the strategies a bit, particularly giving you other options to go about winning.

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on which game you're playing:

Dread Lords: My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2
Dark Avatar: My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar
Twilight of the Arnor: My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Older versions may store the debug directly in the location the game is installed at.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.
