How to add/change/remove weapons

Okay I tried searching - couldn't find anything.

 

I've been trying to have a fiddle with the tech tree editor and I can't see how weapons work in it. Are they hard coded in?

I wanted to make a second path for each weapon type (A bullets path for mass drivers with lower dmg, cost and size, giant laser for beam weapons with higher cost dmg and size and a salvo path for missles with lower dmg higher cost but much much smaller). Is this possible or are weapons hard coded in?

Weapons themselves are actually controlled through a different file with its own editor, GC2Types.xml. They are then "attached" to a specific tech through that file. All the tech does is sit there and make the appropriate weapon available when you research it.

also don't forget to include the ethics stuff its not hardcoded in TA but your techtree won't load I learned that the hard way that might also be the problem.
