Forums too dark
The recent change to the forms has made them hard for me to read (gray text on black...). Is there anyway to change them back to the old style or at least make them brighter?

You need to identify which forum as this is showing up in WinCustomize. ![]()
Most likely the Elemental forums. It got a huge change just barely. Looks cool, but the contrast isn't that great.
He's talking about the Elemental boards.
And I agree. Dark gray text on pure black background is not the best on the eyes.
Yes, I'm talking about the Elemental forums. I forgot that this section was common to other Stardock products.
Oh god my eyes! ![]()
Grey text on a black background is barely legible for short posts. For long posts the eye strain is so bad that I can't get through them.
Please change it back.
Make the text white/silver before throwing it out ![]()
I LOVE the new change. I'd hate to see it go just when the color of the text needs to be changed. I admit I'm having no problems reading anything, but still...
I've updated the font text colors and adjusted some link colors. Please do a hard refresh in your browser (Ctrl + F5) to get the changes. Let me know if it's still too dark or if you'd like to see any more minor color changes for readability.
Bara
Nice! I like it
Yuk! The old style was much better ![]()
I find it ironic that a game site can have a cool looking forum like that....yet the WC site gets a very plain one.
It's an example of a general problem in the software industry. 'Cool' too often wins out over 'practical.'
true but WC is also all about changing styles... not seen them update Gal Civs 2 website though...
I'll trade you. The WC version is far easier on the eyes.
I think it's fine, personally, however obviously I can't speak for everyone. Could Bara add to his already long 'To Do' list the ability for a user to set a preferred background and text colour in their Account settings? Obviously this will create clashes with the overall design of the site(s) - however it should be up to a user to determine what is or is not best for them.
On a side note: does Elemental's site's colour scheme changes reflect the in-game UI changes/over-haul that we are yet to see?
I've wanted to implement the ability to change what forum style you wish to use across all Stardock sites (eg: Use ImpulseDriven theme for all forums), but unfortunately have not had the time.
And I'm not sure what the Elemental UI looks like right now, so I can't answer that. However, from what I've heard, this design was primarily created to have a "wow" effect, and is not necessarily representative of the game.
Bara
Annatar, what do you mean "Dark Gray"? The text looks like it's Bright White to me.
P.S. We have a "Colors too Dark Whinner Thread" already. Spam much? This thread should be locked and deleted.
@ Bara: How about Fixing that big logo at the top of the screen keeping everyone who's using IE from making new posts and stuff. I can't even browse half of the forums because of it and I can't find all the threads I have replies in because I can't reach the "My Replies" button. Don't worry about the colors, Fix That First Please.
On a side note, the "WOW" effect was definitely achieved. First thing that came to my mind when I saw the change was "Holy Sh!t this is Awesome!!!"...up until I noticed half the functionality was gone....
I've resolved the issue with the logo on IE7 and IE8 (with compatibility mode on). I've also changed the colors around a bit. The backgrounds are a bit more golden/brownish and the text is a bit more yellow. Thanks to Das123 for the suggestions ![]()

Thanks Bara! ![]()
Awesome stuff!! Much better. You rock, brother
.
You could at least spell well when you insult folks, you whinger. More importantly, Stardock is clearly interested in constructive critiques from customers and willing to make their own calls about when things go too far. Note Bara's diligence in these two related threads.
lol
Note: That "lol" isn't at Bara. Bara's done a great job fixing things and keeping up. I still don't see the point in making him keep up with two or three threads on the same thing, Do you?
After seeing this and hearing my friend in Australia pronounce it with a g in it I had to look it up. I had always heard it as whine growing up and through life up until recently. Turns out both whinge and whine mean the same thing. So I'm unsure if you were going after the lack of a g or the extra n with your statement.
I am just not sure if it's a geographical thing or what though, as I had never heard the G'd version till maybe a year ago.
That caught my interest and I figured the thread was about long enough to stray off topic now. ![]()
