GC2:DL Bug Report: Credit Balance Goes Massively Negative

I have a save from a couple turns before it happens and right after

I think it was during the "Skip" phase when it happened, that's when you've hit "Next Turn" but some of your ships need you to make some decisions before the turn actually goes forward.

My credit balance went massively negative, a number so huge in magnitude that the display couldn't display the entire thing.

Any reports of this happening before?

Your civilization needs to stop employing Ferengi accountants...there's your problem! ;)

I have had it happen a time or two, but it must of been over three years ago. Is your game updated? It was so long ago I don't remember if I found a solution. I may have even had to start a new game.

I've only ever had this, or something like it, happen once, and it was in DA 1.7ish.  I know that bug was fixed, as it was apparently tied to the Xeno Ethics bug that allowed you to zero out your debt, but I wasn't aware anything similar ever existed, or that it still does, in DL.

And for what little it's worth, I was only about 537 million in debt-I could still (sort of, my memory of the game is a bit fuzzy nowadays) see how screwed I was.  Yours may in fact be another order of magnitude or more beyond that, if you can't actually tell how bad it is.

I just re-loaded an earlier save and it didn't happen.  No idea what caused it.

Since a credit balance can never be positive, what's the problem?

If you mean your cash balance, then it would mean something.

As to your original problem, yes it is a random glitch. It had been present from v1.0 to at least 1.2. It seems to have been fixed in the latest versions, though. What version are you playing?

End of Moosetek13's quote

Since the game's currency is named credit (or, in fact, billions of credits/bcs), there's nothing wrong, per se, with referring to it as a credit balance.  It's no different than saying "dollar balance" or "euro balance"; although it certainly sounds a little strange, it's still technically accurate.
