Freeze Help

I've been having some problems where, sometimes near beginning of game, or near end, the game freezes between turns, becoming unusable. I end the game then reload from the end, but it happens again? Any suggestions?

(I have a Windows XP, Service Pack 2, I believe)

I had this problem until I increased my RAM to 1.5GB (Windows XP).
