I continue to lose the occasional space miner even though I might see the enemy ship/fleet coming in time to get away. I have not been able to figure out how to order a miner to stop mining and run.
There's room in the UI for a Stop Mining button. I always wondered why there's never been one, but it seems kinda on purpose because even selecting a miner from the ship list and trying to move it doesn't interrupt mine construction.
