Mega Events option not working

I keep turning OFF the Mega Events because I HATE HATE HATE that big event from the precursers that forces a race to gain 1% in every ability per turn, making them a steady fast super mega power. It completly ruins my games and turns me off playing the game entirly.

In my oppinion this is the worse part of the game, that 1 random event. I think it may be a bug that I can't seem to disable that event by turning off Mega Events. Once I start the game, it's like the mega events are started up again.

Can someone tell me a way to disable that event I hate????? Can I take it out of the program coding or something?

There are two versions of that event; the mega event which increases all abilities each turn, and the regular event which increases only one. The latter is generally inconsequential to the outcome of the game.

Further, the non-mega version is something like 1% per turn or three (I've forgotten the specifics), while the mega event version you've encountered previously, I have personally seen grant bonuses of 4 or 5% in each stat every turn.

There's a rather large difference between the two, and as Kryo says, the non-mega is not something to be feared.
