We desparately need a pirate countdown to launch

The pirate bribe needs a countdown of some sort.

What happens now is a message " a pirate raid is impending" or somesuch message.

Then if you click on a faction to up the bounty  on them, they then up the bounty on you, this goes on, until the raid launches, but at the last second, just before the launch, the AI ups the bounty on you, and the raid becomes official...always on me.

I have only seen the bounty remain on the faction I've bid on (and some times I've put 10k or more on them), 1 out of 10 times or so.

am I missing a launch countdown?

Any help is appreciated.

To clarify, I dont find the pirates too powerful, just that wave after wave after wave that I cant out bid or turn to a different player takes it's toll, especially when I am doubled or tripled by enemies.

There is a countdown.  You have to go to the pirate window and see where the "slider" or "bar" is.  I think it also exists on the main screen, if I'm not mistaken.

I think he means when the timer is down to 0, but the pirates have not launched yet. I think how it works is that each bid will prolong the amount of time before the pirates launch (but a little less each time). Watch carefully and put a bid in whenever the AI does. I almost never lose the pirate bid to the AI. Against human players, the lack of this timer till launch makes Pirate bidding fun imo. I think they should keep it as is.

Referring to 1 friend and I vs. the AI...so not sp.

Yes when the timer is at 0, it flashes for a bit then they launch.

however, whether this is new to this current patch or not I'm not sure, but a tthe very last milisecond, the AI will post a bid and then it immediately launches.

I've even tried bidding, waiting 3 seconds and bidding again, ad infinitum, hoping to get the last bid....but the AI cheats....10 to 1.

I'm  no noob, I know how to play this game and havent had this trouble with pirates before, tho admitedly I have mostly played mp, but have spent occasional time on sp.

The trick is not to outbid the AI by one increment, but do it by two or three.  If the bidding is tied, the attack still goes to whoever the previous target was.  Thus if you have 250 bounty on you, and throw 750 on the AI they now have to bid up to 1000 on you to get it off them.  The AI is more likely to 'think about it' when there's a larger gap in the bidding as opposed to only needing one bid to beat you.  Generally the AI likes to go up by 500 or so at a time, so this makes it much more unlikely to AI will snipe the bid at the last second.  If they tie you without beating you, throw another 500 on it just to be sure.

On a side note, never throw thousands of credits on AI bounty at once.  With large numbers, they actually become MORE likely to throw thousands at a time back at you

Yeah, it's pretty sad with the AI and the bounty system. IT requires you to exploit it to get anywhere. Really needs a fix.

well actually AIs got their own limit too, by far the pissed-me-off bounty countered by AIs goes up to 50K, too bad they don't have any money left when i increase to 100K :P
