Spartacus: Blood and Sand

Xena Boobies :) MmmmMmmmm

Has anyone else been watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand on the StarZ network? I don't actually get this channel on my cable but I've been watching and downloading the shows online. They can be watched for free (Legally) on a web site called Fancast Here . Lucy Lawless is one of the stars of this series. You may know her better as Xena: Warrior Princess. I grew up watching Hercules and Xena and I always thought Xena was hot. Well, in this new series you get to see some yummy Xena skin in the second Episode. It's Definitely worth watching. Even my wife likes it :)

On a side note, did anyone else know that Lucy Lawless was a soft core porn actress back before she was Xena? It's true and the movies are out there if you know where to look. ;)

Even without the Xena boobs this Spartacus is a pretty awesome show. Give it a watch and let me know if you liked it.

Dude Spartacus is cool, I watched all of the episodes so far, it rivals Rome or even the Tudors in the complexity of the story...

however, when it came to the porn stuff, I find myself skipping them when I am watching them in the public but at home hehe, play, rewind, play, rewind, you get the point. LOL

It will be interesting on how they will progress the story.

Unfortunately I didn't see Rome or The Tudors though I did want to. I've thought about picking up the seasons of both of those already out but I just don't think I'd have the time to watch them all and catch up to current. I'm about to watch Ep 3 of Spartacus while I eat dinner though. It's a really bad ass show. The fight scenes are awesome, the story line is awesome, it's really well done. The Xena boobs are just icing on the cake honestly. To be fair I'd say there's probably a lot of eye candy for the ladies too. I could of done without quite so much swinging johnson in Ep 2...lol. I almost wanted to cover my wifes eyes.

Watched Episode one and thought it was pretty Hollywood. Watched about 20 min of Ep. 2 and turned it off. The makeup, the music, the slo-mo, the bad cgi, and the fact that everyone is either a super model or a body builder really drains from this show. The sex is over done. We know they are having it don't need to show it.

They have a good idea but they haven't done enough research. Watch Rome. Alot better and still has violence sex and language but has some of the best research into that time period. This poor excuse of a show about Sparticus is just that... poor in everyway.

I don't know, it's Hollywood yes, but it's still pretty bad ass and they did do some research which is apparent. My wife and I were watching an episode and she asked what they were doing with the sticks and oil and I told her they were cleaning themselves. In Roman culture a common cleaning method was to put olive oil on your body and then scrape it off with a knife shaped stick taking dirt and grime with it. There are other small touches like this that show some historical accuracy.

I just watched Episode 5 and the fight scene was awesome. It was a little 300'ish but that's not a bad thing as I thought the artistic style of that movie was incredible. Then again I'm also a Frank Miller fan. Everything he does always has such a striking visual style it's pretty much guaranteed to be bad ass so this series copying that is Ok in my book.

Spartacus ( Andy Whitfield ) is dead in the arena of real life... after a 18 month fight again a opponent called "non-Hodgkins Lymphoma", he was vanquished...Spartacus have faced this very personal battle with courage, strength and grace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

so this is what happened!?  I thought this show went the way of firefly and got cancelled by a dumb executive.

Man this is really sad, I always enjoyed this show and sparticus made the show what it was.  I considered the writing excellent as well, as the blood and the sex and the intrigue all made perfect sense and truly wasn't pointlessly gratuitous.

Sad times, I wish his spirit a safe journey.

Thanks for the link Thoumsin, I can't wait to see what the new sparticus will have to offer.  The show will have an element of sadness every time I watch it now no matter how good the replacement will be.  I'll still watch it though!

I hope they kept the same writers!

Indeed it was incredibly sad thing when Andy passed. The last of heard him before I heard he passed was that he was getting better and even felt so good they were going ahead with the planning for season 2 and we're going to take some still shots while he finished recuperating. Next thing I know I heard he lost the fight with cancer. It was really sad and I felt bad for his family.

They are doing a new season of Spartacus though and honoring Andy with it. The new guy (don't remember his name) looks like he's done a decent job with the few shots I've seen but there's no way to tell until the show airs honestly whether or not he'll screw it up or pull it off. Lets all hope he doesn't suck and they follow through with the entire story of Spartacus. Btw, if you don't know how Spartacus ends read some history or watch the old school Kirk Douglas movie.

Although I'd missed the news of his passing, while he was getting medical care there has already been a 'second season'.....set as a 'prequil' and thus without him.

Perhaps you're referring to season 3 [which would require  someone to replace him].

Australia sure lost a talent.

Well, yes, but technically that other thing, I think it was "Gods of the Arena" wasn't really season 2 of Spartacus. It was it's own thing. When it comes out, they'll call this Spartacus season 2, and that "Gods of the Arena".

Yes I noticed some of the news posts couldn't decide whether it was to 2 or 3....but in reality it's 3. 2 WAS used as a method to continue production without him [hopefully for only a short time - something that did not come to pass].
