ships not automating

ships not automating

Am running Win7 64bit and Gall Civ2 Endless Universe ToA 2.03

Just started playing and my ships (suvey ship and miner) have stopped automating.

I have to manually reclick automate on each vessel otherwise they just stand there in space doing nothing.

I've verified my install via impulse. Have I missed anything ?

Just an update - both sets of game files are shared between an Endless Universe /ToA install. One on Win7 x64 and one on XP. 

If I click on auto to a craft it will go along and do it's auto thing. However, when I select it again, the auto stops and I have to manually reassign auto.

This does NOT happen on the XP install even though they are sharing the same game files off the same drive.

I have cross referenced the game/interface options and haven't noted any differences.

 

Any helps ? Thanks

I seem to have fixed it by copying the xp My Games subfolder across to the Win7 My Games Folder overwrting that one

Dammit - I was wrong. The SAME thing happens on any ship I send out. I click on the ship, either via menu or manulaly located and the selected ship just stops dead, auto or even if's en route somewhere !!

 

Can anyone help ?

This may be a dumb question but ... Does it get moving again after you click the turn button?  I know that the game processes any automated movement (traveling en route, auto survey, etc.) after you've clicked the turn button. In my relatively brief time lurking on these forums, I've noticed a few people not realize this, and I don't know how experienced you are, so if I've asked you the GalCiv2 equivalent of "Is your computer plugged in?" and you're the GalCiv2 equivalent of a computer prrogrammer, then sorry, didn't mean to.

Alternatively, isn't there some option in the game configuration menu somewhere that says "Cancel destination on left click" or something like that?  Maybe you've got that selected somehow?

No it doesn't - I have to select the menu and click automate again.

When I play the game in XP as opposed to Win7, the automate function works fine, even when the ship is clicked.

The same game files are used on both installs and the XP game directory is copied across to Win7 and it happens there.

 

I thought the copying of the files would sort out all the configs, but am going to double check Isimov if they are in fact the same. I'm sure that must be the answer.

Will try tomorrow am and update. Thx for the prompt

yup- that was it ! Even though I copied the files across, the settigns weren't all the same.

No problem.  One downside to having the game be so darn customizable is that the configure menus can be rather large, and the thing that is causing a problem can be rather small.  It took me forever to find and uncheck that goofy "remove all useable components when updating" option, when I first installed ToA and I was aware of its existence!

Isimov, use the ship templates to save your ship. Then when you "use"  that template, all the components are removed as they are never saved on the template.

Oh, haha.  Thanks Xrati, but I already knew about templates, and I do use them anytime I develop a particularly cool looking ship, but I think you might have misunderstood.  IIRC, the default behavior for the shipyard update screen is to remove all the functional components from your ships.  I was just commenting that it took me forever to find the option to disable that behavior, so that functional components remain when you want to update a ship.
