I'm trying to get rid of ship designs I have made but I cannot seem to do it from the ship design in the main menu. It is annoying to see all these various ship designs I have made when I research tech. How can I get rid of them?
There should be a delete button in the ship yard when you have that design selected.
Ok I found it ingame once I had the tech for it. I thought I could do it from the main menu ship designer though. Thank you!
While I'm thinking about it is their anyway I can rename and add a description of a ship I made? The only way I can do this is to upgrade a ship and hope I remember all the right parts.
I think its easier to save the designs without weapons and defence. This way when you can adjust your tactics based on what techs you have and what your enemies have.
It does take a little more time this way, but you will have a lot fewer designs to sort through.
Save the ship as a template. This way it will always be in the user tab on your ship design screen.

Simply uncheck "remove all functionally parts when upgrading ship-design" in options and you can rename the ship through upgrading it without having to remember all the parts.
I usually implement these parts in the shipsname, like "Yor Invasion r2 s3" where r2 = 2 range-modules, and s3 = speed+3, the transport-modul for an InvasionShip is obvious.

Saving the ship design as a template does the same thing. It will remove all the systems and weapons when saved as a template. Although the ship pic will show them, they will not be there when you use the template. It's easier to use and you can delete the ship designs that may be "one of a kind" with added foreign tech after the game ends.
