Galactic Civ2 Gold Edition Will Not Complete Install

Hey guys, I bought GC2G a while back and enjoyed playing it. Well last night I decided to reinstall it on my XP. Anyways to make a long story short it does not finish installing, it cuts out at 76% and the cd-rom seems to stop running and the system locks up untill I eject the disk. It is on file Race Image 06 Small bik.

Does anyone know what the issue is? I have resarted my PC but that didn't help either.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

*Sorry for having to post this here as well. I posted in the support forum, but was not getting any views. Please forgive, I am desperate for answers so that I may play again*

I have tried copying all the files from the 2nd disk to a desktop folder in hopes that maybe I would be able to make it install from there but I get a cylic redundincy check error after setup .21 (the setup 22 file). I am afriad that my disk is no longer functioning properly.

I am going to try and do the same thing without the install open and see if that will cause it to work, but alas I am afriad all is lost. I have submited a ticket with Stardock but I do not wish to wait 24-48 hours to resolve an issue. Why do they not have a tech support phone number?

Anyways any help or suggestion are welcome and appreciated!

Its appears that even with the install setup closed out, that I recieve the same error as before. The error appears to occur somewhere within the setup.W22 file. I just do not understand, there is absolutely no damage to the disk. But I fear the disk is my problems.

I do not suppose that Stardock will send me a new disk will they? I will be forced to purchase the game again. All well and good I suppose but I think that is completely unecessary. If anyone knows how I can directly contact Stardock, it will be much appreciated!

That is the beauty - you don't need a new disc. You can download the game using Stardock's Impulse. If you haven't already registered the game with Stardock Central/Impulse, install Impulse, then register your copy of Galciv2 using the serial number that you had with your disc. After that, you can download the game and forget about the discs! If you had already registered the game, then you need to use that same account.

If you have problems, contacting Stardock support might be useful.

Wow, can I download Impuse off a site? I'll take a look see, thank you for the help! Unfortunately I do not recall what account I used. I suppose I can email a request of that info.

I registerd my Galactic Civilizations 2 Gold Edition, but I could only see Dark Avatar (included in Gold Edition). When I try and install it, it can not find the original Galactic Civ 2. Any help on that by chance? I do not have a key for that seeing as they are all on one (two) disk for me.

Never mind it never occured to me that the one key I have would allow me to register both GC2 and GC2 DA. Downloading now.

Arunodayt thank you so much. I am.....and forever shall be.......your friend! Live long, and so forth.

You are welcome :)

BTW, you might want to buy the next expansion pack - Twilight of Arnor. It is a great addition to the series, especially the unique tech trees - the races are really unique now! If you d decide to do so, I suggest you use Impulse instead of buying a disc ;)

I had seen ToA but I hadn't had a chance to really look at it. I will definately have to try it out. GC2 is probubly one of the most addicting games. Just one more turn, just one more turn.

I have developed my own "strategy" to avoid being sucked into that vortex ;)

Yea, hehe, I always wait until I have all my chores done before sitting down to a GC2 game.  Otherwise, I'd never get anything done :)
