Banned for you're not telling us much about this Odyssey, dude.
End of quote

Banned because the basic idea is as follows. I have a common medical condition called diabetes mellitus that requires me to wear a cell-phone-sized reservoir of insulin-like medication connected to a small plastic IV tube pretty much all the time. It's completely painless and has little to no direct impact on my life other than requiring me to do slightly uncomfortable paper-cut-scale blood tests at predetermined points throughout the day and input the rough amount of carbohydrates in my system into the IV gadget so that it can adjust my medication dosage.

But my mother doesn't see it that way. She's gotten involved with the half-baked charity called the Central Ohio Diabetes Association (or CODA, which is always confused with the Central Ohio Transit Authority, COTA), and expects me to care about it because I have diabetes and CODA is supposed to educate people about diabetes. But of course this charity does not help with the actual problem, namely that people in Columbus are poor and cannot afford medication, whether it be for diabetes, blood pressure, <Insert name of current overhyped flu variant here>, cancer, or whatnot, and I would prefer it if she spent her time in an actual anti-poverty charity or resisting the Afghan war or something. Worse yet, she introduces me to these random people who either have very little in common with me or that I actively dislike, and expects us to get along swimmingly because we have the same easily-treatable defective gene.

But what really gets me is the way she worries. She constantly insists that I am injecting more carbohydrates than I am entering into the device, and wants me to eat more vegetables (which I can't stand). She insists that I bring a snack to places where it would be inconvenient to do so (such as plane flights, lab days in chemistry class, and Model UN comittee sessions), then claims I eat too many snacks when I am at home. She managed to spook the school nurse into following me around in 8th grade, and sends this massive packet of literature along with me whenever I go to stay someplace for a long period of time, leaving me in the uncomfortable position of explaining to whomever happens to be in charge of the school trip or whatever that the note in my mother's handwriting is wrong and I am actually no more likely than any other person to pass out unexpectedly in the middle of the afternoon. Furthermore, she always insists that I don't eat enough when I am away at some conference or another, and claims that I eat too much junk food, no matter how many times I explain to her that she nags me just as much when I eat nothing but low-fat fish as when I eat nothing but cheeseburgers, and I never get anything considerably sweet at home so I might as well enjoy the Skittles when I have access to them.

All of this resulted in her brilliant idea to take me to see a dietician today, forcing me to take a full-period psychology test in half a period and reschedule a trig test for 7:40 next morning, which resulted in effectively no constructive advice except that she will now probably make me lug a book of calorie tables around wherever I go.

@Scoutdog: Banned for ranting.

Also, dont mind her, mothers are always like that. They are never satisfied with anything regarding their children. If you show them an A- grade is some test, they'll tell you that you should have gotten an A+. And if you'd gotten an A+, then they'll tell you that you study a lot, and that you should get outside more.

I'm telling you, they are all nuts, thats for sure :(O

Oh and, sorry to hear that you have diabetes. I hope it doesnt make your life more difficult. Oh well, life is never easy anyway :|

Banned because 1.000.000.000.000.000 = 1. I believe the figure you're looking for is 1000000000000000.

Banned because those are periods/decimal points, not commas.

Well, here is an example: 1,250 = one point twenty five. 1.250 = one thousand two hundred and fifty.

Banned for thats what they taught us in school.

Banned because they always taught me the exact opposite.

In Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovenia and much of Europe: 1 234 567,89 or 1.234.567,89 (in handwriting, 1˙234˙567,89 is also seen, but never in Denmark, Portugal, Sweden or Slovenia. In Italy, when handwriting, a straight apostrophe is also used: 1'234'567,89

In France, the period was already in use in printing to make Roman numerals more readable, so the comma was chosen

However, English-speaking countries took the comma to separate sequences of three digits

Banned for inconclusion, Greece as a non english speaking country who invented roman numerals is more likely to still use . as decimal or thousand seperator.

hahaha noobs I pwn you

Ok guys, to end this already, here is the #1 Greek online shop for computers & technology products. Just check the prices:

http://www.plaisio.gr/Computers/Desktop/PC.htm?sort=pricedesc

The first item is a one thousand eight hundred sixty one euro premade PC. = 1.861,00 €

Just click on the link, and stop pestering me. This is Europe, not the US. Like Altaux said, many countries in EU use different systems than the one you use in the US.

Banned for

1.250 = one thousand two hundred and fifty.

A few European countries might use the US system, I dont know. But most of them use different ones.

FAIL :typo:

Of course they are interchangeable.

And if you did that in Greece, then you would have traded 1 thousand and 250 dollars, for 1 dollar and 25 cents. Then, the lucky person who traded with you, would have to go to any bank, and exchange dollars for euros.

Banned for this sums it up quite nicely:
