Frustrated with Stardock

I can't for the life of me got on to Stardock Central. I already registered an account, made sure I had the most up to date version and all that. I enter my information, click submit, and after about 30 seconds get this message. "Failed to update account information." And then can not continue. How do I get this thing to work? I wanted to update my galciv game before I started playing... but now that doesn't seem likely.

Using Adsubtract or Proximitron? Those interfered with my being able to register using SDC.

I do not believe I am under proxy... no idea what adsubtract is though. ?? I'm not that good of a tech guy, hehe.

SDC sucks the biggest honking road apple you can find associated with Star Dock. It's very aggravating item. The curse you must put up with if you want the point releases. >:(

You will not be able to see any GalCiv update listed until you've registered your serial number in the GALACTIC CIVILIZATION value box. Not the Drengin.net value box, in SDC.

LoL... you completely lost me there Star. What is this value box you speak of?

I should say, not to be deterred by my lack of updates I played a quick small game to get a feel for it, and had quite a bit of fun. Everyone was on the lowest level, so I became the hands down trading leader with the Altarians, and as I was pumping out ships every few turns.. was funneling them down to their war effort against just about everyone. Lots of fun. :) just wish I could update it >:(

I've gotten VERY tired of telling people where that box is. It's buried too darn deep.

Tools -> Registered products -> Drengin.net tab -> Application box : Set to GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS and enter your SN and details there. Press Register when done. If successful, you may have to refresh/restart SDC to see the updates listed under the Software -> Dregnin.net tab.

Ahh.. I assume though that you assume that I have gotten into SDC to begin with, which I don't believe I have. When I use my link to it, I get a window "create stardock.net account." I enter the information requested (First Name, Last Name, Nick Name, E-mail, E-mail verify, password, password verify) then hit submit.. and get the message "Failed to update account information." I checked around the stardock folder on my C drive, and didn't find anything for tools.. so I assume it's done after you actually get into stardock. I'm frustrated with it and I haven't even gotten to it.. maybe I should un-install and never look back? :notsure:

Also, forgot to say thanks for the help. :) Can't state that enough, as it is greatly appreciated.

Under tools/register products, there is a drop down with one entry for Drengin.net and one for Galactic Civilizations. Set the dropdown for Gal Civ and there you will see all the info for your account and the game serial number. If you installed properly the serial should already there if not put it in and click register. I think the problem people are having is that they are not connected to the net when they first run Stardock and they don't get registered properly or they set up Drengin.net instead of Gal Civ.

Dont forget to refresh application data from the tools menu.

Ok I see where you are at, did you check your email and see if you got the registeration follow-up, you must go to the link there before you can update your account or run the Stardock app?

I don't know where this 'tools' area can even be found. I haven't gotten past creating an account to actually get into stardock yet, at least, it's not accepting it. I'm ever so confused.

ahh, disregard me last post. I do remember doing that before I got gal-civ via this site. I did indeed go to the link. Just in case though, I created another account under my other e-mail after having both the game and stardock installed. I verfied it, and entered the information again.. same result.

Chirotera, you are welcome.

So you haven't gotten into SDC. Ok then. I don't recall the initial way to get that working. Sorry, cannot help you there.

Good luck!

Heh that's has to be frustrating, if you did all that I don't know, the thing worked fine for me before I even knew people were having problems. Did you try to run the Stardock app, it's in your start/program/stardock.

Well I got in, no idea how though.. lol. I chose to skip the initial account sign-up... and got into the area where I can see all the tool stuff and what not. No updates seen.. I'll try the earlier suggestions.. ::crosses fingers::

Ok, went through the steps you two mentioned.. waiting for my register to process. ::taps fingers impatiently and excitedly::

If you're still having problems after trying the suggestions above, send out an email to [email protected]'d have some more insight to your problems :( I wish I knew more, but once you get SDCentral working its difficult to go back and help people with initalizing the program.

I think I got it figured out, though that register button is taking forever to get it's work done. Anyone have an ETA as to how long this thing should take?

Er, as I dimly recall, it was just a few seconds for me.

Hmm.. I went and played a full game with normal AI on a small galaxy (alliance victory, woohoo) all the while it was running for a few hours... the problems do not end.
