Last person to post wins, unless they are a moderator or admin.

Basically, this game is played so that the last person who post wins. What do they win? The ThreadKiller's Achievement; The honor of being the last person to post by virtue of the content of their post. However, moderators, admins, and anyone else who has the ability to lock the thread are disqualified from winning the ThreadKiller's Achievement, if they win by locking. If the thread is won by method of locking, the "winner" gains the Achievement Of Reprehensible Epic Lameness.

mdman, I'm not the one who said what's chasing the Vasari, although I did do a great pic of a Space Pony Borg Cube. In any case, it's SivCorp that came up with the backstory, which is dangerous if a sequel or any type of storyline were to ever come out. I came up with my own idea, but I've just mentioned it in passing to others. Nothing more.

As for the other galaxy, depending on how far you want to say they can take phase travel, it can go either way. I would think that humans wouldn't be such a blockade if they could move over to another galaxy. I tend to think a touch more locally.

Well as for Galaxy jumping you can look at it like this in the fact that such a massive jump requires vast resources to construct a special phase gate that slings one from one galaxy to another. So each time the Vasari reach a galaxy they have to mine the required resources and build such a huge project and balance that all out with dealing with other invaders and such.

But yeah, need to deal with the whole that is what the Vasari are running from. Maybe them specifically but not the whole Race.

Us.  We are awesome and should be destroyed for the good of humanity.

Fortunately they don't realize that.

fortunate for who? Humanity is doomed!

True Humanity is doomed

Unless we take over the world

Your attempts to save humanity will only leave behind a perversion of it. To save humanity is to leave them to their own demise. Anything else would be a peaceful imprisonment.

Who said anything about saving.

I was speaking of enslaving.

Its easy. Just set a semi-democratic government where the people think their vote counts. Give them some "rights" to keep them happy. Develop a two party system that continuously snipes at each other to give the illusion of balance of power. Develop a public educational system that teaches them to only remember and repeat not think and study. Dilute the power of religion (it is a dangerous thing) with multiply forms. Develop a powerful commercial and entertainment system that keeps them entertained all the while slowing feeding their minds with even more garbage. Develop the idea of freedom of information but then deluge the system that dispense it all with tons upon tons of garbage information creating a confused mass. Set up a powerful select few that have tons of power and money for others to focus on as the "real" problem. Soon all will be too confused, or too angry, or too controllable to do anything.

HA HA! It's funny cause he's describing something that exists! Ho-oh!

Funny eh?  Maybe it was too subtle for me.  I'll stick to Family Guy.

That was my point. Figured Draakjacht would get it. I'm sure Stant would as well.

you can't points they since don't occupy any physical space at all or else they would be called spheres

that was almost a sentence.

I'm still convinced that the system is not some setup concocted to do what you described, as much as a combination of mixed intentions, some good and some bad, and the desires of people, the masses, coming together to create a system which often fails to work well or leaves itself open for others to take advantage of. I'm sure you probably don't think it's one giant conspiracy, but I'm sure you can see how it reads that way above.

Where there are resources, there are intended and unintended consequences of those fighting to keep them.

Over here we just do it with political and corporate sects instead of armed conflict.

both of which can lead to armed conflict

Well, I was thinking along the lines of entertainment keeping the masses dumb. It's not just someone forcing it upon them, but the masses themselves wanting someone to keep them entertained in the first place.

ryat, you forgot to specify that there should be many regional groupings  that are structured similarly , but with minor differences, and that the regional groupings should also be sniping at each other.

sloppy planning there.

you will have to lose a letter in your name for that one

Of course.  The recent terrorism threats/scares are a direct correlation.

The fact that were working to help the third world instead of just bombing the **** out of them and leaving is good, but the killing civvies with unmanned aircraft noone is held accountable for thing not so much.

Heck ryat, I'm Aussie and I get it, but for the sake of avoiding sedition charges let's just say that the state you described is purely theoretical :) Anyway I don't think you could phase jump from one galaxy to another, I just think the distance is too large, not enough anti-matter to make it. Also there are like a 100 million something stars in this galaxy so I think the varsari just come from another part of the milky-way.

Phase jumping doesn't use antimatter.  You just lose some in transit if your ship has some.  I know, for a long time I though the same thing until the totally obvious was pointed out to me.  Then it was a face palm.
