Thrull's RED DRENGIN SHIPS..now available on page 2 of the library.

Tired of the default green..use this!

Thrull's excellent modification of the drengin ships makes
them red instead of green.

Easy to see and easy to distinguish from the Torians.

I was one of the testers and highly recommend it!

Yes! I recommend them, too.
These ships are red like "red alert"... very Drengin-like.
The green Drengin-ships were one of the very very few bad ideas in galciv, good to have a fix for that now. :)

maybe its a dumb question, but can i upload my score to the metaverse after installing this mod? i think so, because the gameplay is not changed. just to be sure... ;)
Sure you can - I just did. ;)

Just using some different graphics - the part of the programm wich does the scoring doesn't even KNOW that you changed something.

hi guys...

I was pretty excited about this mod, downloaded it, opened up the ZIP file ...

... and could not figure out what to do with the files :sniff!:

tried searching Galciv directory, to see if they were replacing existing files (couldn't find existing files), looked in zip file for a readme (only found a .bat file which didn't tell me much)

anyone can give instructions please??
thanks!

Place all of the .mdl files into your Galactic Civilizations GFX directory. In a typical install this is:
C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Galactic Civilizations\GFX

That's all. No need to remove any files (or replace).

When you want to remove this mod, run that .bat file. So keep a copy of the .bat file in a safe place.

>:( I just copied your instructions HawawiiFive-o into a readme.txt file, and went to place it in the zip file for future reference.

I get a question asking "replace existing file?"
Turns out I am blind!!! and there is a readme file in the ZIP file which explains how to do it!!!

oh well LOL

I like this mod alot.. but is it just me or are the Red ships "chunky". Sometimes it seems they look "fat" to me compared to my memory of the green ones.

Hey Duglis, how can you quit writing events before you have colonization events for the other 3 races?

I was expecting to see an event choice that involved painting the Drengin ships from green to red!!!

How do you mean? you mean- the drengin exile and sesana Yor events? :)

YOu want ones for the Altarians? The Torians? and
The Arceans too? :)

Yes, now the Dregs really stand out. However, as Miguel pointed out, some ships seem to look much bigger. Defenders(?) look big and I do mistake them for capital ships. No worries though, I'll get used to them.

Thanks Thrull.

Hmmm... really?!? I actually didn't change the size of anything just recolored them. I did pick out details here and there like running lights and gun barrel tips, but I didn't enlarge any of them... I guess the red is a bit more bold then before and really makes you take notice of their size. To me the colony ships and freighters look really squat, but I think the Drengin ship design philosophy is kind of Klingon meets Gorn...

Thanks Thrull.

I don't mind, really...
I guess the red has an aura.

Yeah, I was heartbroken you didn't make colonization events for the other 3 alien races! I won't even mention the minors.

For sure there should be one that involes some kind of bonus for spray painting all the Drengin ships red (sensors or something).

their old incarnation :)
