invinsible transporters

searced the forum and couldnt find any on this.

When the the un comes together they sometimes come up with the ridicolus idea that transporters (or at least combat transporters) should have plus 20 to attack, with a base of 8 defense and now 20 attack for the price of 100 they are kinda invincible? (not to mention more hp almost double than a normal battleship) (who cost 400)

Need like 2 battleships for one transporter and thats quite unbalanced. Only thing countering them is massing transporters myself. Feel kinda strange though to attack transporters with other transporters and massing them for ship to ship battles. Its kinda ok since u can hide battleships on planets (since transporters cant attack planets with ships on) and waiting for ureself to get a couple down there.
Also think battleships gets higher military strength score so aliens wont attack u that soon (since u look strong) while massing transporters wont look that good.

on the uss battleship monitoring sector 2/9/5

sergeant: enemy spotted sir
commander: report
sergeant: its a transport ship sir
commander: holy shit, call central command, full retreat, try to hide on nearest planet!

but there was no friendly planet nearby.....

This actually saved the galaxy in a recent game for me!

I played a small map with just the Drengin (set to pure evil and Intelligent) to test my new Red ships and I was feeling very cocky because I controlled the majority vote and had a +50 luck so I swung the vote in my favor when the space zoo came up... figuring I was quite safe with a +50% luck.

Well the only luck I had was bad, because 3 space sharks broke loose a year later and began ravaging my ships and starbases. No one in the game had anything better than defenders so I thought we were sunk. I turned all of my spending into research and tried to race to antimatter missiles, but it was taking forever.

Well wouldn't you know it the UN met and voted on arming transports so I forced the issue of +20 attack and lo and behold I had kamikaze shark-killing machines! Millions of patriots gave thier lives that next year as we relentlessly threw transport after transport against the sharks (each with the 1 million minimum crew). In the end we prevailed and the sharks are no more.

Though I doubt the Drengin are very happy about the whole affair... ;p

Just goes to show you how unpredictable and unique Galactic Civilizations can be! :HOT:
