Quoting Zyxpsilon, reply 4Almost pornpics, lipsticks, tattooes... getting outa of hands, are we?
To think that all it took was the word "Girls" to open the usual pandora box of subtle junkies, it's not so far fetched some would even try calling anybody pedophiles or perverts.
Lemme give you a trick; 2008 years old membership is a copout.
It's the default nice to know you "care.". I could care less about profiles. I didn't come to this forum to socialize or sneak into the all boys clubs. I've been playing war strategy games since the release of the original Civ game, you know the ones with the really coloful square icons for units. Nice to see after all these years, the boys are still trying to strut their stuff and pretend they're the only ones around that matter.
Oh and I wanted to add, by socialize i mean turn my stardock account into another facebook, myspace, tagged, etc. account.
*sigh* angsty, aren't we?
Girl, boy.... who cares. Most of us are human and that's all that matters.
You have to expect some odd reactions to a "hobby", if you will, with a male majority that perceives a female among them. It's not even a case of "boys strutting their stuff" so much as it is curiosity that a rather out-of-the-ordinary thing has happened.
Take, for example, karate. I've been involved in it in one way or another for some time now and it's a male majority (save for kids classes, still unsure why). When I see a female come into my class over the age of 18 I'll admit I'm suprised and instantly curious because it's a curiosity. It's out of the ordinary, and humans are naturally curious. There's no sense of "she better get out brawr ima man" or anything. If anything, there's a great deal of respect for her climbing out of the social nutshell of gender roles society has placed us in and being herself.
But be honest... if you saw a guy with a porcelein doll collection you'd have a similar, if not worse, reaction. Yeah it's an extreme example I suppose, but reductio-ad-absurdum pretty much pwns everything.
Soapboxes are for soap. Also for carting books to half-price bookstores.
