Modding major game events

Is it possible to make it so that the "alien artifact" that improves whoever found it to godlike levels occur for the race that the PLAYER is using for that particular game? I have had this even happen quite frequently but it NEVER happens for me.

Any imput on how to "correct" this so it has the same chances of happening for me as it does the other races?

Well, the events are hardcoded and completely unmoddable, but I think it's just bad luck that you never got it..... although I'm not sure, since I haven't seen that event much.

I'm pretty sure this can NOT happen to the player, and that that event is designed as one of the Game-Destabilizing events.  I.e. like the "Mega-Events" introduced in Dark Avatar, to help prevent the game from becoming dull.

But I would love to see such things be moddable, the possibilities are quite large, I can only imagine some of the great Random Event Mods players would come up with!

Perhaps if we jumped into the Elementals forums and started asking for Random Events to be moddable there, they may be come time for GalCiv 3.

I saw your Elemental post, Dave. Nice thought. Polistes, it would be possible to "hotseat" yourself into the position of the AI that got the event by enabling cheats (ask me if you don't know how to do that), then selecting one of the target's planets and pressing Ctrl+Shift+Z..... that might transfer the effect..... testing it now.....

Testing complete, and it works. When in control over the effected AI, you can colonize any planet (even class 0), and your own planet5s will slowly rise in quality.

to answer both of your questions yes major game events can be modded but  just the name and maybe image you cain't change what they do.The best way to mod this is open the english Str file use notepad 2 I repeat use notepad 2 its really the only way open and save it right hope this helps you some.

Anomaly "correction" (if we only knew what ALL (0 is for BCs, for example) classes & types effects are to fiddle with) could be used to mimic that sort of thing -- trick would be to grab *it* first though! :w00t:

End of Scoutdog's quote

So that is what the "Godlike" event does!  Very interesting.  I always thought it was bugged and was supposed to continually increase base stats over time.

Yep. Takes a while for pre-lived planets to "gorw", though...
