Ship Movement

Having a problem with Dark Avatar (1.8q).

Most (75%) of my ships no longer can be set to destinations beyond their engine rating range. So now instead of setting a multi-turn destination I have to move each fleet its maximum distance each turn. I have searched without success for related issues.

Of note--I recently installed (GC2 GOld edition with DA) from disk and upgraded via the automated system.

Ok i found the issue (i think). From the original install somehow I made it to version 1.8e ONLY despite just recently installing and updating the game. My startdock reported version q or something (perhaps the "g" was cut off), but when I started the game, it was listed as ver 1.8e.

From there I followed the directions in the sticky on fleet movement at the top of the page. Of note my info (I'm on vista) on the registry was at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar

so you may have to search the registry for the version number. A search on "Drengin.net" should get you there quick--"Stardock" has too many entries.

From there the quick summary for the sticky was edit your version to 1.7, update via stardock, proceed to dominate the universe.
