How to remove teams...

I have no idea how it started, but when I start a game now, I always have a teammate race.

I don't even see an OPTION to make teams. I start a game, and boom! 2 races...mine and

another....and it says relations: team. I don't want a team...I want to kill everyone :p

 

Anyone ever had this happen? Is there some hidden option I am missing? How can I get it to

stop without reinstalling the entire game? Help!

No need to reinstall the game, just change the setting when you start a new game. GalCiv II remembers most settings (except e.g. tech speed) from your previous game, so once you've changed that Team setting it will probably carry over to any new game you start if you forget to change the settings back.
