I think I'm boned.

OK, here's what I've done for a mod in TA:

  • Create a custom race techtree in the normal TA directory, simply copied the minor techtree
  • Create a new mod folder "custom race" with the following updates:
    • updated custom race techtree
    • updated planet improvements & starbase modules for new techs
    • updated raceconfig so the custom race points to the custom race techtree

OK, no problem.  I have a custom race that I've played a bunch of games.  Every time I start a new game, the same version of my custom race is available.  Same tech picks, same colors, same flag, same name & description.

Yay.

OK, here's where I'm boned.

I try to modify the custom race techtree, but the modifications don't stick.  I start a new game, it still has the old version.  I try disabling and re-enabling the mod, it still has the old version.  I try moving in a completely different techtree (like Thalan) as the custom techtree, it still has the old version.  I try renaming the mod directory and pointing the game to the new directory, it still has the old version.

How do I get the game to forget my configuration and re-read from my designated MOD directory?

Thanks!

Slight modification.  I did manage to get it to do something different one time - it showed a custom race with no techs available, and no ability to select any race's techs.  I don't recall how I did it.

Thanks!

As always, check for typos & be sure that the correct names are used. Also, remember that the saves will always use the info from when they were saved, and won't display any mods changed afterwords.

Is everything in the right file folders? Also, I have noticed that races "linger" after you change them. Select another race, start a game, and then quit. This will fix the problem.
