Planetary Invasion

I have Gciv2 Ultimate and am not able to see imvading troops facing off against each other on the surface like you do when you see the tutorial. I chose traditional warfare hit the start button but don't see any armies facing each other. Instead all I see is a top screen with burning buildings and search lights, and in the bottom window I only see a map of the planets surface. Any thing I can do to correct this? I also see the same thing when aliens are invading my worlds.

Being new to the franchise, I cannot be certain, but I recall reading elsewhere in the forum that was removed or disabled in TA/Ultimate.  The poster was a long-time player who wanted the old invasion screen brought back.

Yes, you are seeing the 'new' invasion display. Some folks complained about the old one, other folks complain about the new one. Like pretty much every other change to the game, I suppose...

Yeah that's true enough.

I prefer the new one myself, but I would prefer something more tangible. At this point I just skip everyting since it makes no difference anyway because I have no control over the battle once it starts.
