Low score

I see lots of discussion about achieving a high score.

How low a score can one have and still win?  Has there ever been a competition or test of that?

For example, one could gift all one's ships and planets (save one) and bases the turn just before a research victory, but that would seem to be the lowest for that victory route.  A similar bit of cheese would seem possible with an Alliance victory.

B ut a low, low score for a conquest victory?  Influence victory?

Gifting wouldn't really lower it much, because the score is calculated using the integral of the graph line for each scoring portion (military, population, tech) etc. This means the total area under each curve, then modified based on how many turns it took, what type of victory is achieved, difficulty level, and galaxy size.

So I guess do a cake walk tiny galaxy, do jack the whole time, tech victory gives lowest modifier and rare habitable planets and see what you get. You can probably get like a 100 score or something haha.

EDIT: Oh, and take an insane amount of turns to do it too. like hundreds.

I wonder in the largest galaxy with the max AIs and Minors, how low a score one could get?

Would one ally with one AI as early as possible and then feed, feed, feed them and let them win the game for you?

For a conquest vicory under those max conditions, would one crush everyone early and then let time pass and pass with the remaining adversary huddled on a planet that one gifted to the enemy with one of the never-flip buildings?

I'd love to see some of the scoremonsters reply to this very interesting question--it's almost a call for an ad hoc Bizzarro Metaverse.

Re an alliance stategy for a Bizzarro score, it could be tricky to be the limbo champ on account of needing to have a lot of score-earning things to be able to "feed, feed, feed" that ally. Even if you didn't build and give them the ships, you'd at least still need a major economy to be transferring beaucoups BC every turn.

I've never gotten into conquest wins, but I suspect that your idea there might be the 'exploit' for low-balling any victory type. If Kryo built an Alt-AltMeta for it, the math might need to reflect some league consensus on how to handle the fact that you can drag down any score if you just add a bunch of turns after the point where the AIs have no real power to interfere with you. But then I forget whether you can turn research off completely or not...

... and in all-factories, no focus on research on any planet.

ZYW (or less) usual conditions at the setting phase(s) would most probably be the nearest thing to lowest scores tracking.

Preferably, you'd need to Ally with a single opponent (No Minors, No mega-events, etc) on a tiny map as quick as possible or invade their homeworld BEFORE they gather enough planets while mopping up the rest again with minimal resources or productivity.

Ultimately, luck would play a much larger role into how fast you could win if only because Influence needs territory by colonization.

Forget tech victory in any cases.
