Connection problems to I-Mod Productions? go here

ISP and the hell

Some of you encountered problems to access the I-mod sites in the past months.

We contacted our Hoster and had to change our IP's, cause the old seem to be blocked by one or more providers, but now it seems we are back for most of you.

If you encounter problems, we can work it out and make I-Mod accessable for you with your help, please go to the last page and help us tracing it!

Sry for the circumstances.

See you on I-Mod!

Whaveter you or your host just did Sven, has again fixed the "flaw" -- let's hope it is definitive enough to stick around for all your site members.

I'd be very curious though - what was *IT* exactly? (EDIT; disregard this question since i've just read your reply #24 and it explains the IP "switching" solution!)

Thank you, activity should return to normal including Cronk's necessary verifications to X-Worlds 06-A for MMV compatibility.

Quoting [I-Mod,
Sven" reply="1" id="2177709"]The connection IS possible.

Sadly, it wasn't when I asked, even after I flushed my DNS cache. :(

It is now, though. Thanks.

well Sven changed the IP's after we got some fresh ones from our hoster, so I guess our old Ip was somehow blocked by one or more providers, somewhere on the world.

thanks again to you all for your quick help!

See you on I-Mod!

Gee, that was fast... it's OFFline again!

i had a feeling that you'd get here before me.

Same.

So I tried to tracert:

Unable to resolve target system name i-mod-productions.com.

Their host can't be resolved which makes this a different situation of what we had earlier.

I was just about ready to try contacting Cronk for the MMV client & logon "flaws" when this happened.

Yeah, what I kept getting previously was diverted to an ad-filled page that had nothing to do with i-mod. Now I just get "That file does not exist." Not even a 404 error.

Well, for those who can't enter I-Mod atm: Stefan installed the new IP but forgot to setup the nameservers with them. I set them up now. Within 24 hours we should be reachable again for all.

 I can't work under these conditions, get it out of Germany or stop fiddling with the "sites" program for at least a few more weeks! :ninja:

Stop playing the stressed one, zyx. As soon as the general TLD-DNS settings are updated - I hope in 12hrs till max. 36hrs - at least the last ISP have updated their nameservers, so we are back online. This has nothing to do with Germany - if the US-Servers wouldn't have blocked our old IP, everything would be fine, so... of course stef will be tared and feathered for the "great IP-change from hell". ;P

Did I already mention my aversion against dns-problems?

Told you so. But don't take it soooo personally - what the MMV is bringing to the GC2 communities is beyond my silly impatience with unstable (but temporarily so) "sites" when the cause is somehow badly managed servers anywhere but in Germany. :D XD :D And, now that i have lost track of the initial logon password to the MMV, i can only wait for timely replies.

Bitte, gute nacht.  Yup, sums it up! B)

Hey, Sven, thank you for updates.

I'm glad the site was accessible long enough to get the high res mod, but it does suck that it's down again. Hope to see it back soon. :)

sorry for the incomplete change of the IP's, due to Sven making his last exams, I tried to fix the problem on my own, to not distract him.

That was the reason and I am sad that It didn't worked out well.

Administration is not my area. I can't prepare myself for everything, I am a busy guy, having to work and to care a lot of non administrative things on I-Mod, and when I got a message from our hoster, telling me that the old IP's get deleted, I checked, if all domains were set to the new IP.

I recognized they weren't and switched the other sites, !without! (Just now I know) rewriting the nameservers for the domains from the hoster's website-user panel, too.

Sry again,

Stefan

You managed to get it working for a day or two, and if you hadn't done anything, it would have remained totally down.

Thanks for updates and all. :)

I can wait, don't worry - boys.

still no connection

In fact this is nearly impossible. We changed our IP, so it is in fact impossible that the problem is related to us.

As you all are used to, please post a ping and tracert...

I can still connect.

If that helps any. :)

well i can not connect any more

Okay, I talked to Keyweb, now we have to take out the "big-momma" :D

Could all of you, which experience the problems, please make two tracert's?

We need one tracert to i-mod productions.com and one to another Keyweb IP, e.g. "87.118.122.38", "87.118.114.9" or "193.22.254.200" (without "")

Please post your results here.

Remember:

To run the tracert go into "Start" -> "Run", enter "cmd" (without ""), press [ENTER] and the commandline will open.

In the commandline, please enter first "tracert i-mod-productions.com" (without "") and hit [ENTER]. After this is finished, please run it a second times but instead of "i-mod-productions.com" you have to use one of the three IP's provided above.

After that, please post the results in this thread, so we can filter out the provider, which is responsible for the problem.

Thanks!
