Ship Importer

Using ship designs from previous versions in TotA

I've got a problem and it has to do with ship designs.  I've spent an enormous amount of time, seriously over 100 hours (I know it's pathetic), creating ships in GalCiv2 and Dark Avatar and don't want to lose that time or those ships when I switch to Twilight of the Arnor.  I've tried moving my templates from DA to TotA and have had mixed results, some ships seem fine, while others are hideously mangled with no hope for repair.  At this point I'm unable to even play the latest expansion (TotA) because of the grief involved with losing my precious ship designs.

So here's my desperate question, is there any application that will update previous ship designs to TotA currently availible?  If not then PLEASE Stardock, I am BEGGING you to create something for this purpose!  I'll enthusiastically pay for it, seriously!  I doubt that I'm alone here either, so please help us!

Also is there anywhere I can find the hotkeys for the ship designer (yes I've seen the wiki)?  I swear there was a key combo that allowed you to duplicate a component on your ship but I can't seem to remember what it was.  Oh, it would be great too if the ship pieces you "favorited" in the (external) designer saved so you didn't have to select them all over again every single time.

Thanks.

As far as ship designs go, bear in mind that shipcfg files are readable with a standard text editor.

The layout and quite possibly the syntax for these files are different between Dark Avatar and Twilight of the Arnor, which explains why some of your ship designs don't transfer very well.  However it looks as though the actual data being stored is similar if not the same.

Maybe with a little investigation and some trial-and-improvement you can find some search-and-replace-text patterns that will yield the results you're looking for.  Thing is though, you'll have to design a few ships in TA and look at the files to see what I'm on about.
