Help with Mod installs

Why good?

Hi there all. I am new to these forums but not new to similiar games. I want to install and play the mod that has the Star Trek features. I downloaded it, and installed it in the mod directory but for some reason it is not working. Any help here or perhaps I am missing something.

 

Oh and while I am here...

Why are there NO bonuses for being good? If you look at the whole evil/good thing all you get is penalties for good and bonuses for Evil. Why in the galaxy would I want to run a 'good' empire and take hits to production or pop or BC? Isnt there a mod out there that gives you a better choice when confronted with Good vrs Evil dilemas?

Good>>> (Let the live and take a population hit -5% pop)

Evil>>>> (Kill them all and make roach stew!!!, +5% soldiering)

Again why would I want to be good?

 

I would take Good if it gave some minor penalty but gave an immediate influence bonus to me..

 

Bleh

 

Because good is dumb....

I forgot to tell you all that I am running GalCiv 2 ultimate edition with both expansions.

Ok i figured out the install. I have to unzip the files in a folder named mod in the Twilight folder which by the way was not there. Anyone out there take a look at my request/questions about good/evil or is this an old horse?

It has to do with balancing the Ethic choice (you eventually must make) with the colony phase "delays" for both the human player & the AI algorithms.

Furthermore, the Conquest victory condition FAVORS evil to the point that their abilities variation completely dwarf any neutral or good opponents --unless-- your strategy involves defending against such advantages.

The Good ways are more about standing tall and still winning against Evil. The "Peace" game can still be represented by Tech or Influence victory conditions which is another reason why i've also been asking for an Economic one for years.

Thus, why the challenge is within gameplay rather than specific bonuses gained.

Face it, evil wins in this world - if no outside influences are involved.

Why? Because evil will do whatever it takes to get ahead, while neutral and good will always make allowances.

Even in the Biblical account, evil would win over good if it were not for Jesus (the outside influence).

 

We can even see it today, with Obama - the messiah.

Soooooo true, Moose... it makes such a simulated gameplay (in principles at least) a reasonable demonstration of sharp opposites.

Granted, Peace is still possible but we always MUST fight for *it*.

There's always the probability of a GC3 design which could have a clear opportunity to redefine winning conditions as to offer us different contexts by optional settings; tuning a Good_vs_Evil match up as much as Evil_vs_Good current situations.

Even thematic Mega-Events should do the trick if we get a listing from where we can choose which exactly we prefer.

I guess that's why i think Neutral is the most powerful ethical choice.

There are a few good bonuses.  One of the special structures increases the chance that when another civilization surrenders, they surrender to you.  (I have had success with this)

Good players are much less likely to be attacked by all of the AI players.
