Need help getting rid of some annoying Custom Race copies

So I was making my custom race and I saved whenever I made a change to the race. When I started a game with random races I was suprised to run into my own race. Apparently the game made a copy of my custom race every time I hit save and considers them separate custom races. I want to get rid of these copies as I only want to play against the main races. I'm surprised there is not an option to turn off custom races as opponents.

uhmmmm, sorry to be so short but...delete them?

I assume you have tried that?

Go into Documents/My Games/Game Version and delete the customrace.xml's. Be sure to keep them somewhere safe if you wish to use them again.

Well I deleted them in-game, but that didn't work. I forgot to mention that.

Also coudn't find the game files for the custom race. I was looking in the wrong place for them. So thanks Neilo for pointing me in the right direction.
