Hi. New to Impulse / Stardock

I bought Galciv2

Hi. I just bought Galciv II, well, I bought the ultimate edition retail copy few weeks ago, but only just got around to installing it.

I recently got bored of PC games, and was stuck with my favorite titles being Civ, Alpha Centauri, and Imperium Galactica II, plus various RPG's, and then I found GalCivII, and read some reviews and it seemed to be really good.

I have had a look on the Impulse store, and was surprised to see a new space / strategy game called Sins of a Solar Empire, which also has really good reviews and Game of the Year awards as well, so I will look forward to buying this after I have played GalCiv II and I'll also wait for the expansion pack to be released on retail.

I wish i had heard about these games sooner.

GalCiv II just finished installing, off to start my first game :)

NO WAIT! DON'T START IT YET!!!!!

You must first inject yourself with increasing doses of pure awesomeness in liquid form for 2 weeks or the awesome shock from playing a Stardock game for the first time will kill you! The human body just wasn't meant to handle such high doses of awesome!

thankfully i was dropped into a vat of awesomeness when i was born .

i can only hope Bhavv's had a similar accident or at least see's you're advice first. other wise my god have mercy.

re: Sins of a Solar Empire (soase for short)

just the ticket when you want want to paly galciv but haven't the time. my mentally means i have to do galciv in one sitting, and i don't always have 12 hrs to spare :'( . soase is truly epic and well paced RTS that avoids the clickfest of most other RTS's. entrentchment (now out) is great too.

How ???

No way ... that was not one whole hour.

(I had to stop play after starting to read the manual first). I think I had better go have some food before starting again ...

Download the demo for Sins before you purchase. From the sounds of it you're not an RTS gamer, so you'll want to make sure you find it different enough from other RTS's to be worth your while.

Hehe, ya the ship designer... You will spend quite awhile in that if you spent an hour customizing your race.

The biggest problem I have is that I can't stand to play strategy games on anything but the largest of the large map sizes. This combines with my large amounts of classwork (17 semester hours and 2 high school classes) to give me a large number of unfinished save games. X|

Heh.  That's what I was wondering.  If he took an hour just to design/customize a race, he'll spend whole days designing ships....  :P

This game is awesome, and really really hard, its very similar to the Final Frontier official mod for Civ IV, but the gameplay is a lot more complex.

Now, I have a major problem that is ruining all of my games very early on - the camera keeps on getting stuck into auto scroll, and keeps on scrolling in one direction and I cant figure out how to stop it.

Anyone know what to do?

Not really, since CrazyC0330 doesn't need to pay you money not to wear one. He just has to close his eyes :P
