1.05.71 -- When you build a colony ship (auto-launch off) and immediately use it to colonize a planet in the same system (immediate == when planet screen pops up to tell you it's done with the ship; no launch, no first hitting next/done), and then hit 'destroy colony' when the new colony pops up because its build queue is empty, CTD follows before it's done with all the planet-screen popups.

:) LeegleechN: I know what you mean anyway. You can't stop in that sector and move, but we allow autopilot through it because (a) it would suck if you got stuck in out of range space and (b) because we can justify it by saying that the crew can go into cryogenic sleep while the ship is on autopilot.

Parable: don't click on that button. :) That's supposed to be in the expansion pack, but it slipped through without being disabled, so it's crashing becase you don't have the screen it's supposed to unhide.

Music still disappears when playing for long sessions. Has been so for as long as I can remember. The SFX seem to work, though. Restarinting Galciv works.

Version 1.05.71, Windowed mode

Due to an increasing defect in my monitor, I'm losing the top 10 - 15% of my screen (the lines there are going all screwy, like a really bad vertical adjust, and any graphic in that area gets split into multiple lines), so I tried to play GalCiv in windowed mode. Starts up ok, but CTDs when i click on the "Close" button on the first message window (before you even get to set any techs).

If I scrap my Economic Capital, I cannot rebuild it on ANY world, even the same world.

I am also having occassional Crash-To-Desktop bugs.. so far I've found no pattern (one did involve an espionage message, though, and kept effecting me even if I loaded from saved game) - I'll post again if I discover a pattern to them.

1.05.71 has an annoying bug in the governor build queue.

When you have enough items (16?), you cannot shuffle build order reliably anymore. List corruption seems to start at the bottom and creeps up.. Ie. beginning of the list can be manipulated, end of the list, no go.

List stays broken until you clear it and repopulate it. I have to do this in midgame and kick out the basic items which every colony has already anyhow.

I think that I may have fixed the problem where the music will just stop, if it stops after you finish researching something.  We'll see after the next update. :)

That's an old exe. To run GC in windowed version now, open up your icon for GalCiv.exe and after the target put a w.  So if your target is

"C:\program files\strategy first\gal civ\galciv.exe"

it will now be

"C:\program files\strategy first\gal civ\galciv.exe" w

Icefoxen: if you send me the save game with the espionage message crash, it would help me find the bug.  I'll need both the .sav file and the corresponding folder.

I'll look into the other things.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it - I clicked on total routes in the foreign policy screen and the game crashed.

I am running 1.05. My playlist does not loop back to the start any more. Also when I try to start it over the game closes.

1. If a planet is about to be swayed to another civ and the scull and crossbones icon appears, it never disapppears even after you correct the problem and have 30000 influence to the AI's 600.
2.If you pick a research bonus when you colonize a planet it does not appear when you look at details.
3. If you destroy a colony after an event changes the planet for better or worse, then after you hit end turn you will crash to desktop.

Espionage CTD:

When my espionage-level reaches Medium then there appears a button "Show Traderoutes" or sth. like this on the Foreign/Status-Screen.

Klicking it did not result in seeing their Traderoutes but in beeing kicked to to my desktop.

The bug is just as recreateable as the old Add to Governor list bug... But since espionage is not used as often as the governors I did not notice it before.

3. If you destroy a colony after an event changes the planet for better or worse, then after you hit end turn you will crash to desktop.
End of quote

Not only if I do this, also if the AI's do this... The Torians conquered one of my planets with Massdrivers and that way made it inhabitable. I guess they cancelled the colony and that caused a CTD somehow...

Altarian AI has a definite bug. In my game they amassed 11 capital ships into out-of-way location while leaving their homeworlds wide open for invasion. I got a savegame if someone wants to take a look at it..

1.05.071 Draginol Event. Masochistic. Grrr - wrecked the game!
When event occured, Draginol started with 144,509 billion credits. They bought "Galactic Understanding" from me for 144,509 x 50 !!!! I presume they would have passed this money to an AI if I hadn;t gotten in first.

(a) They shouldn't pay so much for a dumb tech - especially since the sum is guaranteed to wreck their economy permanently.
(b) They were at war with me at the time - shouldn't trade while at war unless peace part of it. (This is the only exception I know about).
If an AI does an invasion with zero troops, the game will just hang after you hit the spacebar. Happened in my game just now (and here I was kicking the Altarians in the teeth too)

I spent some cash to unravel the mysteries of my "friends" the Torians and was surprised to find a button on the foreign polity screen I hadn't seen before. At the Stats page at the foot of the Abilities list I found the button "Total Routes:". ??? Where's that for? What does it do? Or better, what should it do? Because when I press it I return to my desktop. Game gone! A bug? Tell me where is it for???

I saved the savegame if you're interested. Oh before I forget, I'm playing version 1.05.071

Since I like to hmmm..play with the Data files, I created another political party by copying the exact form of the Technologists and altering the research to 30% and not the sensor range. To my surprise when I started a new game with that political party ..every other major civ had the same +30% research ... should it work like this??? :notsure:

The 'Total Route' button isn't a bug or a glitch.... I talked to Cari about this cause i did the same thing. Cari said that the 'Total Route' button was not meant to be included in the current GalCiv and that it was supposed to be included in the expansion. On accident the button slipped through and if you click on it a CTD is caused because the screen it is supposed to link to does not exist in the game. So in essence... the button should not exist and should be treated as if it is not there.

not sure if this is a bug or not. but you can declare war on a power major or minor make peace and get some extra stuff in the process then give another power you declaring war against the one you just made peace with. Then you can make peace again and get more stuff. You can only give declaring war once to each power but with 4 majors and 3 minors you can gain a lot of stuff from another major power. When I did it I gained 22 planets which was all they had.

Hello, This is probably not a bug, but I was invading the Caratoids (sp?) and I couldn't land troops? The Ship just went zap and exploded (superior tech? Omega defence system?).

Anyway, I thought this was a bit strange because then I get the invassion screen saying I'm sending in 0 million troops vs whatever? One Combat Troop Carrier got to the surface (out of the 10 I sent) . . .

The Yor seemed to have no problem landing troopes during our combined ashault and their tech was super primitive?

Summary: Trade Goods are lost when traded for

Preconditions
Have a minor civilization that has trade goods
You must have technology the minor civilization does not
And the technology must be valuable enough for the minor civilization to trade for
Go to Foreign Relations screen, and select minor tab

Steps:
1. Speak to the Minor civilization
2. Add trade Good for what they should give
3. On your side, select a technology and add
NOTE: Trade text should be green to accept, if not offer another technology. Repeat until text is green.
4. Click Accept
5. Click Leave
6. Take a Turn
7. Click Foreign Relations
8. Select a Major power and click Speak to
9. Look at Trade goods on your side

Expected Results:
The trade good you previously traded for should be available from your trading goods list.

Actual Results
The trade good is not available. If you go back and look at the minor civilization, the trade good is no longer available.

I am not sure if the advantages of having the trade good were added to my civilization or not. But the trade good is no longer available and seems to be lost from the game.

sjlb:

Unique trade goods are functioning correctly it's your assumption that's flawed. :)

The race that develops the trade good is the only race that is able to license it to another race. If you trade another race for say...Diplomatic Translators your race gets the bonus to your diplomatic ability that the developing race also gets but you do not get the ability to resell the trade good.
