When someone gets drunk, and they wake up with a hangover, it isnt the alcohol that is causing the headache directly. It is simply the lack of water in your body (dehydration) that is causing it.

True, true. The workaround would seem to be drink enough water through the night, but considering that (these are my observations from where I live. There're too many people who get pissed on Fridays here.) a) most people have only stopped drinking for the night because they are too drunk to effectively drink anymore, and most of the night has gone by the time this occurs. So having water throughout the night is a non-issue.
