You're Banned!: The Forum Game

Okay, here's what you do for this game: You have to "ban" the person who posted above you for an outrageous, silly, or funny reason. Got it?

Banned for saying totally random things. And for self-referential posting. You should do that in private. And you might go blind.

Banned for not having eyes.

Banned for being an ocularimpairedaphobe :)

Sometimes I talk to myself - it must be a sign that this particular thread is driving me insane!  o_O

Both of y'all are banned for having member numbers that bracket mine!

Banned because the recruiters have not only come back to my high school, but have expanded their operation, so I'm more than a little miffed.

Banned for wishful thinking.

Banned for not having something more ban worthy to say.

Banned because the biggest gay community center in Tulsa, OK, invited recruiters from all four branches to set up a table in honor of DADT finally ending. The only branch to show up--the Marines. Freakin' 21st century...

p.s. I don't like the idea of recruiters getting access to a semi-captive audience of minors and barely-legals either. Except maybe if they're just one table at a good-sized career fair. It's not like we've actually declared a war since 1941.

Banned for turning this into a political thread.

Banned because everything is political, Mr. Mulder...

They aren't much of a problem in and of themselves. It's more the fact that they can come in there and sell their organization with the school's blessing that ticks me off. I've half a mind to protest them somehow, and have a core group of people who would probably follow me, but have no idea what to do.

I don't have the demographics in front of me, but I'm hoping and reasonably convinced that the end of DADT will end up chasing off more hard-core evangelicals (who I know are prevalent and VERY influential in the military) than it will add gays.

Banned because that last bit sounds like the start of a plan for a very interesting research project.

p.s. Check your school's regs on student protests. Schools can do some pretty serious interference with free speech, might even include suspensions or detention.

Banned because I'm not 100% sure the school is the one to ask. They may be required to allow the recruiters by law.

Banned because I meant you should check the regs for you & your friends if you're serious about a protest. High school students don't have the same civil liberties as adults in public.

Good point. Either way a protest works. I'll look over the "Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook".

Banned for, in a funny way, that is actually very progressive. I mean, the Marines are the most conservative, being the last to welcome women into the service.

Banned for a federally supported military in a federally supported school is probably unavoidable. When the two get their gravy from the same source, you're pretty much guaranteed to get overlap.

Banned because I wasn't picking on the Marines, I was admiring them.

They had the 'worst' stats in the polling data from the repeal process, but they are so hoo-ra fixated on being the best of the best that they seem to be taking their new orders more seriously than the other services. It's just another challenge to be overcome, and, in Tulsa at least, they stepped up first, as is their tradition.

Okay, thought it was a jab at the low turnout. Like I said earlier, they're not always the first to step up, but it's good to see them at least trying to turn it around on this. Besides, who cares about gays serving or not serving in the military? They can fire a weapon and take an order. Not like they're going to rape everyone in their sleep.
