New Star Trek Theme............

Saw this on TSF today...........For all you Trekkies out there..........Don't turn this into a Hyperdesk 'bashing' thread, please. We went through that little immature debacle a few months ago. Just admire the creativity and even if you don't use Hyperdesk just admire the art work, cool icons and there's a free media player remote too.

I do not get upset if people want to use Windowblinds. I don't care. I get upset when people lie about the patch or at least our patch. It's safe and its stable.
End of quote

i didn't say your patch was unsafe or unstable....show me where i said that.

i said i won't use a program that requires me to patch an operating system file. I also said that Hyperdesk looks like a great program. So get off that high horse :)

Deven [dmer] was a particular good mate.... [dunno what he's doing now, though]

Fathom was often good for an argument....as was/is Bakerstreet...

Everyone knows Frogboy.....[though I bet many didn't know he's also a skinner]

Wow, hasn't this thread taken off since I was here last... and in some ways, not for the better.

Anyhow....

Karen, my original statement was that a friend had a customer service problem with the people who sold him msstyles. I have called him to verify, but he hasn't returned my call yet. starkers then commented that it was TGTsoft...however, I don't remember my friend saying that.

Doc: Just to clarify things here. Given that the msstyles patch is fairly generic and therefore would not have a dedicated customer support area, I said that it may have been TGTSoft who failed your friend regarding customer support.... given that many of its customers, even before it closed its doors, were complaining about the lack of support, etc.
End of quote

I sit corrected, no biggy. I was just boiling it all down. No harm, no foul. When I get that info I'll pm you.

Would that interfere with WB? Would I have to configure WB so that it would not initiate at start up? How would it interact with Object Dock?
End of quote

This is for an old (on this post) question but I didn't see it answered.  I installed Hyperdesk with WB, and then launched HD and it didn't interfere with WB at all.  Or OD.  It just skinned like it was supposed to.  Like they said it would.  I had no issues whatsoever with these three apps living with each other.

*It's sad that a thread with the word Hyperdesk anywhere in it has to turn into something like this everytime.

Jeff, your daughter is adorable.  You should have a couple more.

m1, thanks...I hesitated to remind/repeat the question...

Aren't kids great....best skins ever! :sun:

FLAMES !

Sounds a bit like my first 3 marriages! Old and for sure DEAD.

The here and NOW rules - not the past. Things you said about others and their opinions has me to see things wrong. That and everytime someone brings some of your stuff to the community it turns into a flame feast. So damn funny and enjoyable... I do not see it this way at all. Best from the past at this and those that live there with that in mind.

I THOUGHT THIS COMMUNITY HAS RULES TO NOT ALLOW SUCH.

Recently I've seen some new light on how this whole thing and/or place has changed and it is not what I expected it to be. I've been silent due to work I'm doing and less time. But I can change the way I do things for any good reason.

I feel you owe some of the members here at this community something for what has been said.

If you are so damn great you should be able to do this easily. Otherwise Jeff take those toys of yours and go home will you. I personally do NOT like you and have in the past not liked you.

Oh by the way that is not bashing - it is the truth and I know that hurts. Plus all of my postings here at this forum are syndicated to a lot of places for easy access. Your stupid comments concerning your product and the skins factory is so well made it looks good enough for prime time. Which could be seen on something like 60 min. - what a story it would be.

You should consider your actions in a public place. Or is this the way you run your company?

Don't answer to that one - personally I do not care how you run things at all. I've seen and heard enough of you and your so damn great past to present life style. It is sick as ever -  go sell it to some other. I'm not buying and never will at that for any reason till maybe you find a better way of doing your business.

GT}:)

Nimbin: I wasn't even referring to you when i said that. Paranoid much?

Messiah: One's enough thanks.

About Fathom: Last time i heard about him he was managing a kinkos. He stayed with me for a weekend when he came down for a drum and bass show.

About Hyperdesk and threads: We could always just skip new topics and everytime someone posts a new forum topic we just launch into a rendition of the "good old days".

About what makes a good artist: Gee Mick.... thanks for clearing that up. And you missed my point completely.

Starkers: You wouldn't even know Hyperdesk is running if you unchecked the theme button. Once you close the app itself this is how much memory you use:

Mem Usage: 2,332 K

There are some free ones you can check out.

A must read for anyone who's been in the scene more than 5 years. The title says it all...

Thanks for the info, Jeff, it sounds like an interesting alternative and/or companion to my current customisation apps.  When finances are a bit better I will look into HyperDesk... cos I'm open minded and it'd open the door to those themes I've been admiring from afar.

As for the nastiness and hostility being displayed here, what's the point?  It serves no purpose other than giving the community a bad name.  I don't need to mention any names - you know who you are - but some members behaviour in this thread is worse than anything Jeff is accused of here... so what makes you any better than what he is being condemned for?

The original idea of the thread was to call attention to the Star Trek theme, not to start a flame war, yet it devolved into just that.  Time to grow up, don'tcha think!

Turf rights.  The manager of Burger King, doesn't go into the breakroom at McDonalds to defend/monitor a conversation the McD's employees (or customers) are having regarding the merits of a Whooper over the Big Mac, even if the person who started the conversation was a McD's employee/customer who stated at the beginning of the conversation to not trash Burger King.

I never claimed my behavoir was any better than Jeff's, but I don't go to a Hyperdesk forum and post about the glories of Windowblinds.  I post the glories of Windowblinds here, at WINCustomize.  I'm a loyal addict.  I make no apologies for that.  For what it's worth, even in my slightly manic state, there was a lot worse behavior I had an impulse to post, but held in check because it totally crossed the barrier of good taste.  Considering my slight handicap, my behavior was stellar.

Straying off course is one thing... deliberately deviating from it to be unpleasant is another.

I don't suppose I'll be too popular with some folks around here, given my thoughts on the matter, but I'm seeing a double standard regarding the site flaming policy - what applies to members should apply to non-members, yourself included - and feel it should be spoken against because it's hypocrisy to include some but not others.

Besides, I can't see what they're reading between the lines [in what you said] so it's not my fault that I don't agree with the stance they've adopted.

Also, Karen, you were not in my thoughts when I wrote the above piece at post #143.

Well I can tell you that's how its always been with me and the skinning community. To tell you how ridiculous its been over the years... I once posted a news post to WC about the seals being clubbed to death and it ended up being a huge flame thread. I was just trying to bring something i felt was terribly wrong and it ended up becoming this huge battle. Anyone remember that one?

@starkers You were correct...it was stylexp.

I still have a problem with the thought I'm hacking my system with msstyles. One can call it a "patch", but "A rose by any other name..."

It's done in memory. No system files are touched. It's the reason why you can install 3 service packs in a row and it never breaks for XP or Vista. Since we launched 8 months ago the patch has not broken. So how is it not safe?

Let me reiterate. It has never broken. There are no bigger updates than Service Packs. It has never broken.
