My score went from 2373 to 600 in 1 day .... wtf????

Yo, can somebody tell me why my score went from 2373 to 600 in a day. I played over 30 games with a slow progresive climb then bam! WTF???

Hold your horses, Doc.

U are one of the privileged few to take the metaverse slide. Everyone has had their game scores recalculated based on a new scoring algo but the overall scores are still being aged and recomputed. However, those who are submitting games now get to "jump queue" and enjoy an earlier overall recalc.

Brad mentioned that we would be seeing the correct Metaverse state shortly.

Bascially because all of your games are 1.01 or 1.02 you are being hit because those versions are easier to score on then the later versions which have various bugs/cheese/exploits call em what you will fixed.

I've taken the slide myself.

Goodbye dull yellowish medal, hello rank #31. :)

I dont think they did a recalc, i think they just
cut 1.035 games in half and prior versions even more.

Otherwise id have thought my tiny maso would have gone
up using their new favoring difficulty over size method
but I think that will only apply to 1.04 games.

You are commendably phlegmatic about it all Ray!!!

If I ever finish a game my measly score will also no doubt take a dive.

I just did some tests that I find rather interesting
and very cool(though worisome in some ways too)

I refinished my tiny maso win using 1.04 and it would
have been worth over 3000, which is about right imo.

I then did the same with my 20 trillion(which was the
one worth 23k under 1.035)
and it was worth under 2500 :)

So apparently they upped the time penality alot which
rocks and would explain why the tiny maso was worth
so much as it was done very quickly.

The Metaverse is a fun side show to the game, Greg. You will agree that it is nothing to be too obsessive about. :)

A recal under 1.04 scoring wouldn't be right, Staffa. Afterall, we won those games under rules of the previous version which had their issues. The idea being of course that people should be rewarded for playing the more robust later versions.

Yes, Brad mentioned putting in a serious pop score turn penalty in 1.04. Seems like your "23k for dummies" wasn't written in vain.
I have no issues with giving higher scores for Maso Tiny as compared to Maso Gigantic. Tiny is tougher in my book (starting locations aside).

Ouch RayChua :notsure: .

Looks like only you and Staffa have been recalced so far.

:) Ellestar.

Although it will be much more enjoyable doing quick tiny's than milking slow gigantics.

Yeah Snuis, I jumped the recalc queue by submitting my final 1.035 game so that I can get on to my first 1.04 game.

I'll probably get my feet wet in maso gigantic first. If I manage to win one, we will be able to see what kind of scores that produces.

Well if you die tomorrow Staffa you can still say "I made a difference!!"

I told about it before Staffa. And my speed of milking the score was faster!

Agreed. But tiny rush... It's time to remember my StarCraft and Heroes3 experience.

I think the whole deal about your Metavrse scores losing value over time stinks. It's a terrible idea and it prevents us from being able to determine and "check" if our score are correct. It also prevents us from fair comparisons to each other because we'll never know who really got the highest score. More importantly, they need to fix the submission problems with Metaverse and provide public notice when problems arise so we know they are working on them.

I'm done for the night. Arceans got eyes of the universe before the first year is up. Sigh... that was one of my favourite wonders too.

Yea Raychua, thats what I meant by 'and a little worried too'

Never fear, such cheese shall not issue forth from me
I didnt submit the games, I only went to see what they
were worth :)

And any game I do submit under 1.04 will have been
started under 1.04.

My score got recalced, and apparently the new system doesn't think I'm cheesing as much as I thought it would, as my score only dropped by about 30%, rocketing me up to position #29 (haven't been in the 20's since there were only 138 players registered on the Metaverse). Then again, I've been upgrading as soon as new versions are available, so almost half of my games were already 1.04. Anyway, now all of a sudden I'm feeling the urge to play much GalCiv this weekend to try to push my way into the top 25 so that I can get that nifty top 25 medal, even if I don't keep it long :)

One question. How manytime will they screw around with the concept until people get tired and stop playing this game.

Well for me ... I just got "Enter the Matrix" will start kicking some agent butts and take a vacation of Galactic Civilizations.

Hopefully when I return they will have a grip on this @#$@@ing fiasco!

>:(

They've only done a total recalc once, and remember, the score is not the game. There is no fiasco (1.04 trade troubles aside . . . I think I'm gonna wait to update until I hear that's been fixed up . . .). I can understand why you're upset, though. I would be too, if I had had one of my games reduced to a score of 5. Speaking of which . . . better check that.

[EDITED to say:] Wow my 1.03.100 games took BIG hits. =) I still rose in the overall scores though, I think. Better get on the bounce and submit my first challenging game!

You dropped because the Culture win is the worst kind. It always underscores compared to the other wins.

I'm surprised. I just saw my recalcs. Quite an amazing thing as it looks like most game scores just got cut by 100. However, my rank ended up being about the same spot. Makes me wonder what my scores would look like if I had actually CHEESED for score? ;)
