Question about custom ship styles

Hello,

I would like to create a custom ship style. My problem is not how to create the style. What i would like to know is the following:

If i have a look at the predefined ship styles then there are always 26 ships. Is it possible to add more than 26 ships to a custom ship style or can the AI only handle up to 26 ships and not more ?

The roles defined in the styles are the only ones the AI will choose from when building its ships; there is no way to add new roles that I'm aware of.

I'd even find a couple of ways to use any number of extra 'Classes' for ships, too. But, having 'HeavyFighter' 1, 2, 3 *and* then a fourth (or more) could become somehow handy to add gameplay flavor to an AI default resources.

There's also a flagged thread above by Kryo which extensively goes into details to create Styles.

Hello,

thanks for the answers. So that would mean i'm stuck to the 26 ships i can choose and replace via the "Create Custom Ship Style" button in "Appearance" in the AI Race Setup ? Or is it possible to add additional ships by adding something like this in the new saved shipstyle (blue are the original entries, red the newly added ones):

It would probably mess up the game, and the AI would definately be unable to use the ships.

AFAIC, Kryo's reply made it clear that (sadly) it can't be done... never hurts to 'try' just for fun, but i doubt the AI would use any or at least in the same fashion as what their pre-coded algorithms allow for.
