Planet initial tiles

I'm a bit new to modding this game so if its obvious I'm sorry. I only have DL since I'm sure that probably makes a difference. When ever you start a game I notice that certain tiles have benefits. ranging from a 100 to 700 percent boost. Now excluding pressing (ctrl N) over and over and over. Is there a way to actually go in and change the planet tiles? Say you get a class 12 world with a 100% bonus to research and you want to add a 100% manufacturing bonus. If so how do you do it?

It is possible provied that you get a hex exit program. This post goes into more detail: Link

Okay in that case. Does anyone have a prefab hex editor with the ingame values already assigned? Such as the one MO3 had for race editing?

You want it all handed to you? try this:

Modding bonus tiles takes a bit of time and effort, but it spoils the game in the long run. But if you are really interested all you need is a hex editor, hex edit was the one I used to use. Hexplorer is better, but you need to change the default font so you canread the damn thing :)

Anyways

step1 is to start a new game

step 2 save the game with something memorable step

3 open the save file using hex edit step

4 look for the following patterns after the name of the planet in the decimal side of the hex editor. BTW you need to change the font of the hex editor to make it more legible:

00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 ........100 research

00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 ........100 food

00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 ........100 industry

00 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 ........100 approval

00 00 00 00 05 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 ........100 influence

00 00 00 00 06 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 40 00 00 ........300 research

00 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 40 00 00 ........300 food

00 00 00 00 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 40 00 00 ........300 industry

00 00 00 00 09 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 41 00 00 ........precursor library

00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 41 00 00 ........precursor mine

step 5 save the file step 6 become extremely badass and take over the galaxy

The trick is to look for the patterns, pick a world with a few bonuses and then seek that world in the hex editor, then look for patterns arranged like above and then adjust them. The above rules are from back in dark avatar times and were slightly different from GC2 style, but it was in the same format with the 01 - 0A and the 80 40 and so on, the difference was with the spacings. Its essentially going to be a bit of trial and error, but eventually you are going to have worlds with 10 precursor mines and 10 libraries and more approval than you can wave a big stick at. On a serious note: these type of mods will not be eligible in metaverse games. There is some more information in "get the bonuses you've always wanted" a thread I did a long time ago.

Enjoy:

BTW it originally took me half a day to figure it all out. Somenbody else did it and said it could be done, but refused to share the details. Be warned, it may destroy your love of the game if used unwisely

No sadly enough I just get really tired of getting no bonus worlds for my homeworld... I just want a nice 3 research, 3 manufacture, 1 food world. I just get really tired of pressing ctrl-N.

P.S. thanks for the info|-)

Is it possible to do such trick in TA? It works well with DA's saves, but I haven't found any pattern above in TA.

PS I'm awfully sorry for my English.

There is an indirect way to control extra "Bonus" tiles; modded PIs.

In the upcoming XW-06A, i made a bunch of 'terraforming assets' (for lack of a better tech path!) which completely redefines how any surface can react -- as an example;

-- Once Extreme Colonization is available, you now get a "Forest building" with the following values; _1_ food along with a maintenance of *MINUS-5*.

-- With a placement limit of two per planet, there is a huge advantage of using such "PI" (early on) in a number of situations; one being, right onto a 300% food true Bonus instead of the usual farming which, in fact, puts everything out-of-control when highest levels auto-update the tile and population overspikes above the all daunting 23 bil mark!

There's plenty more where that came from with... mp & tp, etc stuff!

Think of a Predator bonus which you can build anytime, anywhere and you get the picture; be warned though that AIs **can certainly enjoy* the same advantages. With some multiplier (or even ability) tags, anything can mimic the ingame random patterns of bonuses.

I'm afraid I am well be hind the times Freischutz. I have yet to download the latest upgrade..*gasp*...I am limiting my gameplay these days, but I come back here occasionally and add my little bit.

You're going to have to look for patterns. I originally found the patterns when it was in machine code far easier and did my changes in hex. Thats the key. Always look for a planet with a few bonuses and look for the anomalies and then you can teach us :)
