Should my first play be with all the expansions installed?

Or play the original and add expansions later?

Hey,

I've just bought the ultimate edition having wanted to get GalCiv for ages.  I'm just wondering if I should play the original game first so I can appreciate the expansions more, or is it better to start with both expansions installed?  Also, will I be able to play the original campaigns on the latest expansion?

I'd play in order.  The expansions make things much more interesting but can be overwhelming.

I just bought the game plus the expansions as well and have been playing for a week or so. My advice would be to play a Cakewalk game in the Dread Lords interface first; or at least part of one to get the feel of things. Then start playing from the Twilight interface; and yes you can play the full campaign from the Twilight interface.
