How do i turn off Cultural Vic. while in a game?

Im doing pretty good so far in my game, however i want to win by military victory, not cultural. It already says im 89% of the way done to win a cultural victory, but i dont want to win by cultural victory. Is it already too late to turn cultural victory off?

You can't turn it off, but you can stunt your cultural expansion by limiting the # of influce increasing social items, or in cases where it's too late, ending those social programs on planets that have a huge influence in a sector you're you're trying not to have the opponents planets flip.

Of course, you could always just keep saving and reloading the game, thus resetting your culture and never hitting the time limit. ;p

Note that you may get penalized for not winning as quickly as possible, but I dunno how exactly that works.

Or go to war with someone.

Can't win culturally while at war with major civs. That makes it simpler. Just make sure that there is never a state of peace between you and the last major standing. In the future, resort to turning off cultural victory at the start if you are sure that you want to finish it some other way. I had to do that myself, because I tend to be Mr. Culture Bomb.

Does anyone know, if you turn OFF a victory condition, does the scoring penalize you for playing beyond the point at which you could have won if you had the option on?

By the way, how *do* I turn off a victory condition? I haven't even seen anyplace where I can disable them.

You can only do it at the very beginning of a game; I think it's the first screen (not the AI choosing one), at the bottom right.

If I recall correctly, you can only disable tech victories, cultural victories, and alliance victories (if you kill everyone else you've won, period!).

Martok, you need the bonus pack to disable victory conditions.
