What game should Stardock make next?

Okay, besides GalCiv 3, I'd like to see an adventure/RPG game set in the GalCiv universe, where you travel around with your ship, visit planets and get to know more about all those alien cultures, (before blowing them to pieces that is).

The point is moot, their next game is already announced and in development with a beta scheduled for (hopefully) sometime this year.

Wish they were working on GC3 :') . Now they have me worried, because they said the Elemental engine will be powering GC3. God, I hope they lose the cartoony 16bit looking Graphics before then.

There's no need for a foray into RPGs from a company thats rapidly become the best in the world at TBS.

DethAdder, Elemental will have a 64-bit edition as welll as a 32-bit version.  Those early screenshots were just to give an idea of the style.  Seeing as the first beta isn't for months and the game isn't out for over a year i think we can safely assume they will be light-years better by then.  Give them a chance to make the game first before complaining about graphics.

Thanks for the link, Pndrev. Elemental seems exciting.

I don't think pigeonholing the company as a TBS creator would help GalCiv. For instance, a successful Fallout-style game set in the GalCiv world could  bring to GalCiv gamers who wouldn't even consider playing a TBS before.

But yeah, beta is still long time to go, we'll see how it looks then. Although, I have to admit, I like the comic-style graphics quite a bit. Maybe because I've been playing so much PennyArcade Adventures lately, but it's still a welcome change from the typical style of strategy games.

I find the art style rather appealing and well-suited to the subject matter.  It actualy makes me want to try the game, simply because it looks so whimsy- it looks like the sort of world that Alice fell into after ducking into the rabbit hole, and I always did want to play in Wonderland.

Good one That got a laugh out of me :)

Really I shouldn't of picked on the graphics when it is so far away and sure to look a lot different in time. I just never really got into HOMM and after SDs GC2 got me hooked on scifi TBSs, I look forward to seeing where the GalCiv series goes from here. I don't wanna go back to the midevil type game with swords and horses ;) . Of course this is all just one persons opinions and wants. Who knows, I wasn't pulled into Sins or Demigod at first either and have both now

Yeah baby I was just thinking about this idea today (and other days but today it came back to me again). I'd love to have an rgp space/trading game like Freelancer with a flucuating economy and several stories not just one. Something more open ended like Daggerfall by Bethesda. Elite Frontier tried to do this years ago, but, the game was so buggy and crashed so often that it failed. I'd love to see another version of this with 3D first person gaming on planets and in space. Sorta like Bethesda's Pirates of the Carribean but, hopefully 100x better than that game was.

Freelancer combat engine and flight engine is the best I've ever played, but, after the short main story there's nothing left, there's no side stories or quests or missions, thus it just gets boring and repetitive with no reason to keep playing it. A continuing and thriving and other races stories and quests would have made it a great game. X3:Reunion is pretty good it has the economy world, but, the galaxie is too small I think. Plus the evil races weren't that challenging except for the Xenon and it was suppose to be about the power of the Khak. lol

So, yes, bring on the rpg space trading game of games. Bring back the Freelancer engine of combat and ship components. If not that bring on the ability to fly in the combat sequences of Galactic Civ III's battles by the player.
