Ship Design Focus?

Can someone please explain the use of the "Ship Design Focus"?

I set the sliders and click done, but no further screens are displayed and no new designs appear.

I am not sure what else I need to do to generate a new design based on the slider settings, or I don't know where to look if something is being generated.

Um,Are you talking about the game creating ships for you?

well nothing will happen until you have Space weapons

After that the more you research a tech branch like Weps,Defense,engines,life support

the more ship designs will pop up

Also researching minaturzation too and some others like medium scale,large scale etc

the more you research say the laser tech branch the smaller the parts thus the more will fit on a hull

I guess this is what your asking

Thanks Drakcooper, that is what I was asking.

I researched Space Weapons a long time ago. It was unclear to me how my Focus settings would appear in the game, so I will continue to research new stuff  and wait for new ship designs to "pop"up.
