Ideas for more ways to interact with galactic society!

Pretty much a sub-cat ideas for GC3

This is an idea that jumped on me while replying to another post (Alignment of the Korx), basicaly Ive thought of some ways i'd like to be able to interact with my galactic peers, ones that might never be put into GC2 but i would love to see in GC3!

  • Renting out a planets construction teams. When youve got a massive planet thats perfect for building great big monolithic ships but your a bit strapped for cash wouldnt you just love to put it up for rent? I can see this working in two ways: 1) They literally build ships from the rented out planet. 2) The rented planet becomes like an asteroid field to one of the clients planets, boosting the clients military/social manufacturing by the amount thats being rented out.
  • Sharing Starbases. Say i build a military starbase that is in a position that also happens to be where one of my allies would place one, my ally could build a module onto my starbase and gain that modules bonus, but they would be required either to: Share rent proportionate to bonus recieved, Pay an initial fee and/or a monthly fee or give me half the bonus and keep half for themselves. (of course this may not be wanted in all cases so a pop-up could appear asking whether they wanted to share? And it wouldnt work for influence starbases)

Anyone else got any ideas?

I'd like to see map info on the tradable items list, and perhaps a special treaty to share live sensor data (one fog of war for you & your partner).

I like the Fow sharing idea :) it would help massively when playing larger maps (and discourage me from going in all guns b;azing then getting my head chopped off :P )

Actually, the "share starbases with allies" idea is already in the game- it pops up randomly as a U.P. issue, though there's no option for "renting" out assistance.  It's a straight share/don't share vote, and obviously doesn't apply to Influence starbases (or rather, they have no options that would contribute to anything besides their influence generation, which can't be given to any other race).

IMO, an option on the Diplo page is very different from a random event, and UP votes are just a subset of random events in GC2 because you can't do anything to prepare for an upcoming vote, much less try to influence what the next vote might be.

Your starbase-sharing idea seems like a very reasonable complement to the existing Econ and Research treaties, and more options in that area would definitely help 'balance' the basic game bias in favor of war wins--it's an additional relationship you could establish to help bring Close relations with another civ, which you must have before you can propose an Alliance.

Hmmm... it would be better maybe if in the UP section you could select an area that you are particularly concerned about (trading/war/economics/research/etc.) and the section with the most votes will have a random but relevant vote on at the next vote? because in reality people vote on things they care about, not on any random thing that pops into their heads (well actually i think certain MP's might...).
