Laptop - desktop - flash drive question

Like a lot of people, I have a desktop at home and a laptop for work/travel.  I'd like to be able to start a game on one and finish it on the other... I just prefer the nicer monitor, dedicated graphics card and background music available on the desktop, makes for a better experience.

The problem is, starting a game and wanting to continue on the laptop when I can't be home.  Could I install the game itself to a flash drive?  or are there some common 'saved game' files I could copy between the two that would allow me to continue the game in progress.

One other thing complicating the issue is the desktop is Vista and the laptop XP.  I can't upgrade the laptop, due to compatibility issues (mostly perceived by management, but perception can be reality.. heh) with some custom applications used for my job.

Your OS does not matter.

All you have to do is save your game and copy the file to the same location (i.e. My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 for DL, etc.) on the laptop. No sweat.

have you checked the option menus in game to see if you can change the defualt save location? You can change mod location etc so if you could make the defualt your flash drive it may be a lot easier for you! But im not sure on that one and cba loading up the game to check lol
