Twilight: Destroy planet Kai'vox? [Warning: spoiler]

Greetings,

I am playing I think the last mission in Twilight of the Arnor, where you have to destroy planet Kai'vox with a terror star.

Well, I'm playing on painful mode, and I successfully destroy the sun around which Kai'vox orbits, making sure no dread lords enter the ring, and yet after I destroy the star, the game claims it as a defeat (and gives me a measly 3250 points)?

What gives?

Also, the game won't let me restart the mission so I can re-read the directions, and in the victory conditions screen, there is an ellipsis (...) that truncates the instruction.

What am I doing wrong?

You need to have a colonized planet of your own outside the blast radius. Even if you complete the mission, if you don't have any planets left, you lose.
