Any Space: Above and Beyond Fans Out There?

I love this game! And mostly because it comes closest to any other (next closest is MOO2) to being able to recreate the S:AAB universe. I love recreating the S:AAB cartography (Wolf 359, Groombridge 34, Demios, Ixion, Tellus, Vesta colonies), which in itself was great, because it was mostly technically accurate with the real universe.

I also love the ability to name my ships - SCVN Saratoga, Kennedy, Michigan, Tecumseh etc... I also call my starfighters - the 127 Airwing "Angry Angels", 58 "Wildcards"...

Would love to hear from any other fans of the greatest military sci-fi show in history - Space: Above and Beyond!

I am indeed a great fan of AAB. It was most unfortunate that it was cancelled.
I still swear my undying affection for Lara.

It is good to know that their are others who miss this fine production.

Ive only seen the episode with that 'invisible'
enemy ship, but ive seen it several times and each
time it was great! Wish I could have caught some
more episodes.

I am still upset they canned that show! It was one of the only sci fi shows to have a real gritty, military feel to it.

Count me in too - although here in Australia it seemed to get very harsh treatment by our networks; screened late, episodes out of order, etc (the fate of much sci-fi on our screens down here, unfortunately). I also reckon there are some SF lit fans at Stardock - I came across a planet called Palain Seven, which if I remember hails from the 'Lensman" series of books by E.E. Smith (real gung ho 1950's stuff).

I loved Space: Above and Beyond from the very first scene where the DI (a real DI - can't remember his name, but he was in the first half of Full Metal Jacket, and now does Mail Call) 'welcomed' them to Space Marines.

As shi##y as the timeslot Firefly got, SAAB got something like 8 different shi##y timeslots. >:( In a way it's surprising it lasted as long as it did. I'd buy the DVD in a minute, if there was one. (There will be a Firefly DVD!)

Too bad we can't rename the Drenghin the 'Chigs'.

No way Don - those and books like them led me into a long love affair with science fiction, then computing and I guess into SF gaming. I still remember when Kimball Kinnison was Civilisation's No.1 citizen! Geez, I think I'll name the next dreadnaught I build the "Dauntless" just for old times sake....

DMF - Why can't you rename the Drengin to "Chigs" ?

I rename them to Kilrathi (along with the Ur-Quan, Draconis Combine, Jedi, Meklar... I'm upset you can't seem to rename minor civs).

SAAB was one of my all-time favorite shows.
It did have awful timeslots, but you could tell it wasn't going to last... at least it made out the whole season.

Would have been nice if they made some follow up movies like Fox does sometimes, but oh well.

I think that one was "Ray Butts". I've got both seasons on tape, and whenever I'm sick at home, I like to watch a few episodes. :)
