Backup

Hello all! :)

I was just reading about the Twilight expansion pack and was considering purchasing it. I had bought Dread Lords a while back but couldn't find the hard-copies. :( THANKFULLY THOUGH, I managed to remember the email I used to buy it and downloaded the game from impulse (niice! :D). I was just wondering though, I always like to have hard copies or back-ups of games at least. My question is, can I back-up the games/patches downloaded from impulse onto a CD/external hard drive? If not I will just wait til I have the money to buy hard copies, but... that would be more expensive.

Thanks!!

Hi!

Five days ago archiving function in Impulse didn't  work correctly. AFAIK so far you're stuck with either:
- trusting Stardock to survive until you'll want a game again ;) , or
- with burning the whole game folder (or ZIP) on the DVD and OFC checking the copy from the DVD to the hard disk works.

might want to check out creating registry .REG files for the games at the same time ...

in any case, sooner rather than later I expect the archive function to be fixed since stardock intends to develop impulse as a serious contender Vs Steam and the like ... (can be seen in their annual report which was made public)

Not sure I understand, archive function would allow me to back-up Gal Civ/patches to an external hard drive? But it's not working atm?

Iztok, myself, and a few others are having an issue with Impulse's archiving that is proving difficult to chase down.

This doesn't necessarily mean that your Impulse will have the same issue as well, but it's something to bear in mind.  Try archiving and see if they restore before you burn them, is all I can say.

I'm unaware of any other current issue with Impulse's archiving.

The archived file is there where it should be, but it's stored as an "impulse" file. What does that mean? Only impulse can handle it?
