Auto design of Ships or freebies...

Is it just me or has TA stopped handing over the usual 'automatic sample' ships once we reach the misc Hull & other techs that should put these into the shipyard roaster?

Not talking about auto-design here or lack thereof but rather the list of available *new* ships which normally filled up continually.

Templates are still there.

This only started after i upgraded to 2.01 or 2.02, if i can recall correctly.

Anyone else noticed this "situation"?

Do you have auto design disabled? With enabled they are definitely there. I cant say for disabled as I usually cheese with the auto ships since they are almost 2x cheaper and faster to build than ships i usually build.

Yup, Auto-Design was off and i even tried looping it back in with no effect... but, my point is that we used to get at least some automatic 'sampling ships' already made WITHOUT any activation of the auto-design option.

The only 'core' ships in TA are the basic non-combat types, and maybe a defender or similar (don't recall exactly). Nothing else will appear unless you have autodesign on or made them yourself.

That bug's been fixed.

;)

Sorry.

If it's just a difference in build style, though, well, that's what they're there for.

Then, i might have confused some gameplay 'features' from DA only to realize that TA doesn't actually have a similar group of preset ships to use... since, i'm into continual switching modes between the different settings for modding purposes & tests.

It's most probably an instinctive reaction to such variable contexts. Strangely though, i was almost sure the 2.0x versions had somehow created a number of "newly added" principles which i couldn't compare with.

I was certainly wrong to assume that something in the code itself was changed, in fact.

So, i guess it's right back to using the provided auto-design method (as intended) and hoping that we will get more control over the sliders & 'elements' eventually instead of a general triple set of strict +/-100% categories for intuitive attack & defense auto_choices.

Another "comment" if you don't mind, kryo...

The exclusive techs normally got to have an '*' prefix in the trade screen listings, now they seem to be gone.

Well, correction; that sort of behavior seemed to have started once i fiddled up (with both data & values) of the CoSH mod races specific trees. AFAIC, nothing worth mentioning could really alter that gamepay feature since the only changes made were to activate the single introductory tech for each race by removing the "impossible tech" tag for some, inserting a "required None" where needed and adding a cost of 25 for most of these. I also removed "Stellar Cartography" from everyone starting techs list.

The Minors (the Star Trek version as tested first) also complained about not being able to load up a new custom tree so i had to revert back to the usual default tree.

Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with the debug.err file.

Dunno if it is caused by the Mod itself or if a tweak in 2.02 introduced it.

Can you confirm this or not?

Oooops, my mistake Kryo.

After some thorough verification, i suddenly realized that any of these 'exclusive' techs DO show up as they should when the necessary races are active and that none share **some** rare elements -- as it always was.

So, disregard the above post!

Back to continuing X-Worlds version 06-A with its new terraforming feature(s) and some "introductory" ships & fleets.
