A few questions from a newb.

Just bought Ultimate Bundle.

As said, I just bought the Ultimate Bundle.

My first question is, which expansion should I be playing?  If I play TA, does that mean I have all the content from vanilla plus DA?

TA = vanilla + DA + TA

TA = vanilla + TA

Let me put it that way...

Second.  Is there a way to randomize the races personalities?  I always enjoy doing this is Civilization because when you encounter an enemy you never know exactly how they will behave.  Without random personalities, you might enounter a hostile race, and you KNOW they're hostile from previous game.  In short, to what extent is randomizing opponents possible?

If it is not possible I would be interested in modding in the ability to use random personalities.

Thank you.

If I just bought the game, I would go straight to TA.  TA has everything from the earlier games plus more.  There have been so many upgrades to graphics and gameplay that I could never go back.  For example, just take a look at how few customizable options there are in the game startup screen in DL (vanilla) compared to TA.  I assure you, you will not regret it.  Also, if these are your first few games, stick with the Terrans for a little bit.  They have the easiest tech tree to understand since all the races now have unique tech trees.  If you still have trouble wrapping your head around the unique tech trees, you can go back to DA.  Just don't stay there for too long.  You will miss out on all the good stuff.

I really can't answer your second question.  I have never randomized the personality of the races.  But according to the manual, all you can randomize is the intelligence levels and who you will be dealing with.  Drengin are born mean and nasty and they will always be that way.  (Unless you get the random event where they decide peace and kindness is the way to go.)

You can also probably create a bunch of custom races so you never know what you will get.

I'll add that even though each race has a major personality trait that defines more or less how they behave

the context adds a lot to it...

what I mean is it's not because the drengin are evil and trying to enslave the galaxy, that it won't be possible to get friendly with them even though you are good ... Everything is not in stone in galciv2 and your best friend from a game might end up as your worst foe in another ...

End of Drakcooper's quote

that doesn't randomize personalities at all...
